I took the coastroad to Arklow from Dublin port. Not a nice road in parts tbh, crap tarmac made for a bumpy ride. From Arklow I took the R772 to Gorey, then the R741 to the Trading Post campsite. A tough 80 miles tbh, I'm not used to long stints in the saddle and the roads felt like I was off road most of the time.
Next day I went over to Enniscorthy for beakfast, then the busy N11 to Inch as my idea was to stick to the old main road as the surface was a bit better, just. A pint at Toss Byrnes and then a left on the lanes north to Woodenbridge and Avoca. The trips highlight was riding the lovely vale of Avoca and more crap lanes followed to the very busy Roundwood campsite. It was packed and my 'neighbours' were a family with a gazillion kids on one side and a couple of Dutch backpackers just feet away!
Then on day 3 I made my way back to Dublin with its hoards of tourists and smackheads!
I worked in Ireland for a couple of years 18 years ago and I really hoped the road surfaces would have improved, they hadn't unfortunately. some of the potholes were bloody deep!!
And I know it doesn't towards BAM.
