looking to plan a weeks trip in Scotland. don't want anything too rough, so was thinking of a weeks tour taking in lochside tracks and a few glens if possible.
starting and ending at a train station location.

any idea's greatly appreciated.

How about the Wild about Argyll Trail? http://bikepackingscotland.com/argyll/ We did a couple of days at Easter. It's a mixture of road, forest track and a little bit of singletrack - about a trail centre blue standard. We were on rigid 29ers. There's some long hills but they are steady rather steep so it's a case of getting into a low enough gear and spinning away.

I'd skip the bits between Helensburgh and Arrochar/Tarbert. It was an area of Scotland I'd not been to before so it was interesting to see somewhere new.

Train out to Kyle of Lochalsh, back to Aviemore/Blair Atholl via Glen Africa-FA-Corrieyairack pass. All the way across to Aberdeen if your really keen.

Depends on your definition of rough.

I'm not at a map at the moment so excuse the lack of detail....

Inverness, Aviemore, Newtonmore, Dalwhinnie, Loch Garry, Rannoch, Loch Ossian, Spean Bridge, Gairlochy, Fort Augustus, Inverness. Lots of easy track, joined up with quieter roads.

Badger Divide?
200 miles from Inverness to Glasgow. Mostly off road. Not super technical riding. Heading east down the Corrieyairack Pass was the roughest bit, we were on 'adventure' bikes and handled it fine.

Depends on your definition of rough.
no rougher than ryvoan to pools of avon to linn of dee. managed that in the past without too much fuss.
done glen tilt, glen tromie, bealach dubh, loch ericht both ways, corrieairyack pass and few other good rides, so new stuff would be better.

kyle of lochalsh across the aberdeen is grabbing my interest. glen affric is on my to do list

your route looks good htrider, just a bit big for a weeks trip just yet. new hip is still sore and i dont want to bite too much off.

thanks for the ideas all.
