Ooops, I'll fix the title. It's a Numo, sorry.

Clearing out a couple of sleeping mats

I've collected too many sleeping mats, so these two need to go. Thermarest ProLite Plus Regular http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/therm-a-rest-prolite-plus-sleeping-mat-regular-d2424183 It's a deep reddish orange colour on top, dark grey underneath. RRP seems to be £95. It's in perfect condition, comes...

Re: Beginner one-bike-does-all options?

A new bike will depreciate very rapidly - if you find you have bought the wrong thing then it will be an expensive mistake. You don't need to spend a lot to just get out there and start. ^^ This. I wholeheartedly endorse this approach, having totally failed to do it myself. I tried to get a bike th...

Re: software to split GPX into 500point sections

the command line approach will work just fine just needs a bit more learning at the start Are you on a Mac? I just wrote a script to automate Dave's commands, but it'll only work on a Mac (it'll work on Linux too in principle, but I've not tested it): https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gma/gma-utils...

Why duplicate it X times? xxxxx........................... .....xxxxx...................... ..........xxxxx.................. ...............xxxxx.............. duplicate because I am deleting the unneeded points is there a more efficient way? New foam rings might be nice. Definitely new crush washers.

Re: Advice on choosing a sus fork

Just make sure the stanchions are in good condition. Then give whatever you get a lower leg service. Its really easy to do So that pair of Reba SL's should be winging it's way to me shortly. £100, and I'm told the stanchions are perfect. How easy was that? :-bd I'm guessing I need to follow these i...

Advice on choosing a sus fork

My introduction to mountain biking was a fully rigid Singular Swift that I've been using for bikepacking and day riding. I started with 29x2.35 tyres, then gave 27.5+ (3" tyres) a go. Now I've got comfortable with it, I fancy giving front suspension a try (to learn about it, as much as anything...

I stand on a tennis ball with great results (perhaps I should try a golf ball, though that sounds even more painful). There are plenty of videos on youtube to give you some ideas. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tennis+ball+foot It's worth trying this even if you don't have pain. I feel...

Re: Alpkit Shop

Staff were very helpful and answered my questions about the changes I would like to make with the bike, no issues. When I went in a couple of weeks ago they said that the titanium ones are built to order, so they can accommodate tweaks to tyre clearance, changes to mounting bosses, etc. The look li...

Re: Bloody knees…

With a heavy heart, I've decided I have to sit this one out. It's my only option really. I'd come along just for the craic, but my van's at the garage so getting there would mean riding at least 35 miles. Plenty of them are up hill, and given that the knee hasn't healed properly in 4 weeks I'd be je...

Ugh, looks like I'll be carrying my full on waterproofs. Yay, more weight! I just checked the Met Office forecast for Mach, and it doesn't go higher than 20% chance of rain for any period over the weekend (except the middle of the night on Sunday night, which is 50%). Am I being optimistic by assum...

Re: WRT - lights?

Whether you'll need them is likely to come down to who you're riding with, and what they're planning on doing, I'd have thought. I'd take the view that it'll be alright on the night, unless you know folks you'll be with are going to be riding into the darkness? I'm probably going to be turning up at...

Re: Bloody knees…

Maybe pop a pair of flats on - much more forgiving on the knees. An excellent suggestion. Unfortunately I've only got clipless pedals because they allow me to put wedges between the cleat and the shoe that make my knees track up and down properly, which prevents my knees from giving up after 25 mil...

Bloody knees…

I'm thinking I might be touch and go for the WRT. Three weeks ago I went on a 4 day bikepacking trip on forest roads and country lanes, wearing a new pair of cycling shoes. A couple of days before I set off I fitted the cleats to my new shoes in the same position as they were in on my old shoes (whi...
