Re: Off road bikes are confusing
Dave, Up until a few months ago I hadn't owned a mountain bike since my early teens - all my cycling had been on the road. I was looking to mix things up a bit and was inspired to try going off-road by a few blogs: Dave Barter's: http://phased.co.uk/ Ian's: http://ianbarrington.com/ Aidan Harding's:...

Blimey Ian, having never been on a fat bike, that is almost mind blowing. I'd have been off before the guitar kicked in! Impressive stuff.

Re: shand bahookie
Did your feedback from riding this year's ITTs help with the development of this frame Ian?
That's certainly not meant to read like a question of your impartiality on this topic - I was just interested to know if riders, like yourself, had input into the process at Shand.

Re: South Downs Way GPX file
Hi Lewis, It's something I'm intending to do next year - I have only ridden a fraction of the route. But, I have found these resources, which might be of interest to you: http://www.southdownsdouble.net/routeinfo.html has plenty of info, incuding GPX files and water locations Mark Goldie's South Dow...

Sorry, I'm missing your point, or the need to re-present it?

The point is ovbious. I only made it because a) some posters seems to be extrapolating the experience of one Kickstarter to all crowd funded projects...and b) I was bored.

Re: Singular Rooster 29+ Kickstater
Not every Kickstarter / crowd funded project is the same and as such they each need to be assessed on their own merits. In this particular case, the Kickstarter project is SIngular's, but they are not in full control of the production - a point I tried make earlier. Though investors are backing SIng...

Re: Singular Rooster 29+ Kickstater
In your chat with Steven Shand last year (http://bearbonesbikepacking.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/steven-shand-man-behind-welding-mask.html), he didn't rule out the possibility at least of having some frames made overseas in the future. The lower costs are obviously attractive, but there are also risks t...

Thanks very much for the offer FLV. It's really very tempting, but I think I'm going to go for the Thomson.

WTD: Thomson / Hope / USE 27.2 seatpost
I'm after either a Thomson Elite, Hope Eternity or USE Sumo 27.2mm seatpost.
It needs to be black and a minimum length of 330mm.
If anyone has such a post that is surplus to requirements, please let me know.
Thanks.

Re: WTD High Rise Stem
This is a 25.4mm clamp, comes in 90mm length, and for only £24 it will give you a lot of rise options to try out: http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/bbb-high-six-adjustable-ahead-stem-id29568.html FWIW, I switched from Woodchipper II bars to Midge bars on my Gryphon and it improved comfort for me. https...

Middleburn RS-7 Uno is more expensive than Shimano XT, but certanly not outrageous:

WTD: 14" / xs Inbred
I am on the lookout for a good condtion 14" (xs) On-One Inbred 26er.
A nice example complete bike would be good. But frame only, or F&F, are also of interest - especially if the forks are carbon rigids.
Thanks very much,
Simon.

I found 'Be Brave, Be Strong" to be by far the best.

Re: BP.net x-post, interesting story and pros in BP racing
I think that it's important to recognise the distinction between racing and events, such as the aforementioned sportives etc. There are road and crit races every week all over the country ( and no doubt cx and xc) that are run under BC rules (and points system). They are usually very competitive - t...

Re: Tyres for Winter Event and WRT
The Race King has more volume than the X-King, so it might be worth checking the latter even if the Race King won't fit.

Re: Ardent or Crossmark?
I am a road cyclist who has just started to dabble in singlespeed MTB riding. After doing some research, I opted to start with 2.25 EXO TR Ardent front and rear as they appeared to cover the majority of conditions. Having now put in about 400-km on them in varied terrain, I can say that roll pretty ...
