Re: Using a quilt AND a sleeping bag?
I got a quilt 250. I already have two different PHD bags so had quite high expectations of quality of materials, down loft and finishing. I have to say the cumulus is equal to the PHDs attributes. Superbly made, stitching etc is spot on. Despite Being 850 rather than the 900 in my phd bags the down i...

Re: Using a quilt AND a sleeping bag?
I went for a quilt 250 which I'm planning to use on its own in good weather and inside a phd bag in winter.
I've used a thin bag inside it before but this should be quite a bit warmer...

Re: Using a quilt AND a sleeping bag?
Good call on http://www.highmobilitygear.com/PBCPPlayer.asp?ID=1172579 They have been super helpful despite my almost total lack of French. I ordered last night and got and email at 8.40am today saying the parcel was posted! Also heard back from cumulus in Poland who will sell items not stocked by c...

Re: Using a quilt AND a sleeping bag?
I have been thinking about a quilt for this summer and noticed that Cumulus have started doing them, 3 in the range I think. They are on the website as of a few days ago.I like the idea of using over a bag at the end/start of the season too. Ooh have they? I will have to take a look... The old webs...

Re: Using a quilt AND a sleeping bag?
I've been thinking about doing this for a whole now. The cumulus site (new one) linked to above do not sell directly to customers in the uk. I have asked the uk suppliers if they can supply any of the quilts. Will let you know... Unless anyone has a quilt they don't get on with and would like to sell?

Re: Bivvy a month for 2013
I just snuck my March trip in. It was a very snowy one in on foot to jaggers clough. Still no photos as forgot to take my phone... Promise to take photos next next time! I ended up not where I'd originally thought as there was a LOT of snow drifts that made for tough going. Was a beautiful calm and ...

Re: Bivvy a month for 2013
I'm still to get mine in this month. But I do have the next ten days off work.
After the XC skiing trip back from todays pub lunch at I'm wondering about heading out on to bleaklow for a two day trip on skis.
May chicken out and sleep in one of the cabins or a snow hole!

Re: Bivvy a month for 2013
I'm still 2/2 for this year. But only just. I less than inspired or inspiring for that matter, very last minute, dash out the door on Thursday. Just headed out to the ox stones and back again the next morning. Need to think a bit more about marchs outing. Or hopefully outings! I'm impressed by the q...

Re: good ground sht material?
I have a roll of 'tyvek type' membrane left from building my shed. Clad in cedar with membrane, It's quite a nice shed!
I can cut off 2 metres of it or whatever and whack it in the post for a few quid if you want to try it out. Not sure of the dimensions but can check in a couple of days.

Re: Bivi/Tarp use in snow advice please.
I had a snowy bivy recently. Great fun! I stamped and kicked out a trench long enough to lie in plus a couple of feet extra. Then pitched the tarp over this. I use the front wheel at the back of the tarp and raise the seatpost as high as possible and attach to the saddle rail. I'd pitched facing the...

Re: Bivvy a month for 2013
Thanks gairym. I too have heard similar things about some 'off piste' riding round those parts. I think I, erm, over heard some shifty looking types talking about it in a pub once ;-) anyway onto the report - Got the train to bamford and rode out round ladybower then up the moscar/grindle clough pat...

Re: Bivvy a month for 2013
Decided that i'd do a bivi a month this year (minimum) and started a thread over on singletrack.
Flatfish directed me here! Good to find people who don't consider this sort of caper to be madness.
I'm packed for a trip out to bivi somewhere around Derwent edge this evening.
Will report back!
