Re: Footpaths
Just admit I mostly avoid it. Stopped riding with local mtb club cos they were taking groups n beginners on FP in the Lakes. Just think its bad karma to upset people. I am far more concerned about sustainability and erosion of paths. My local fell, Longridge, has been really badly messed up in just ...

Not solo, but as a couple and also travelled solo (female). Whilst biking never had a problem. Kids can be very very enthusiastic, but not unmanageable. People all super friendly and helpful. You have to be careful of course, but that is anywhere. My friend did a tour on her own and also had a fab t...

Avenue Verte anyone ?
Looking to ride to Paris this August, anyone got any tips, side trips or advice ?
It will be super laid back, gentle and easy riding, 3-4 days and a couple hanging out in Paris.
Cheers

Turkey trip ?
So I have snagged some cheap flights to Istanbul for a week in late October.
Not even decided to take bikes or not [want to]....
Just wondering if anyone had any experience, information, blogs or suggestions of low cost, chilled, fun stuff to do.
Thanks in advance

Cutting carbon bars??
I have some carbon bars that need a few cm off each end as rather too huge!
They are Nukeproof and box says I need a fancy tool to cut them down. Cant I just use a hacksaw? What will happen, will they unravel? Any tips or experiences or advice on this? Thanks in advance.

Have you got any pictures of how you mount onto the loop bars? Just curious as I am experimenting with mine.

Re: Burley child trailer
Seat mounts and harness can often be removed, or rolled n taped. Depends on model I guess. Would love to hear how you get on with it. I have a kiddie trailer that I am trying to get my border collie puppy to travel in. She loves it as a bed in the house, but howls n cries when we tow her in it. Have...

Africa dreaming
I am going to Africa, with bike, for my 'significant' birthday next year. :YMHUG: Thinking Tanzania, but that is open, anything up to 6 weeks in July/August [no prizes for guessing my job], fairly low budget. I have looked at some organised/guided tours, all £££ of course, but also wondering if it i...

I use the Alpkit bags with little loop things on the sides to attach. They aren't fully dry anymore, duct tape patches, but I just pack carefully.....

I made a footprint for my similarly aged Laser. It was def struggling on wet ground. Still impressed at how such a light tent has coped and lasted.

Pipedream sleeping bag anyone?
Hi My partner is looking for a lightweight down bag for spring to autumn use. I have Rab bags of some vintage which very happy with, but we are interested in Alpkit Pipedream 400. It is about the same on weight and insulation and over 100 quid cheaper than the Rab equivalent. Anyone used their bags?...

I have some heated shoe insoles, quite old now but still work. Looks a bit like an asbo with aa battery pack on each ankle!
Otherwise I focus on keeping iron levels up and keeping whole body warm, hat, buff, arms and legs as well as core. It helps.

There is an excellent transport service available that can pick you up in Ullapool and take you back to Oban.
Where do I find out about the connection or service? Cheers

Thanks for concern and advice about puppy, we are just doing the 50 and she can run any rough stuff. Or that is the theory. Some obedience training to do first!

Could be puppy's debut outing with the trailer. Certainly something to aim for in getting her used to using it.....

Taking dog on bike trips ?
Hi all. After the sad and slightly unexpected loss of my old collie, Pluto, I now have a rather feisty young collie puppy. I would like to take her on some biking trips next summer, currently looking at the Hebrides, and longer term. I have offer of an old kiddie trailer to try and would consider bu...
