Re: Cairngorm loop May B/H

I'll definitely be up for a beer on Friday evening. I'm thinking of staying in Pitlochry at the youth hostel so how about somewhere there?
If the weather is nice I might go to the trails at Comrie Croft (near Crieff) on my way up on Friday afternoon.

Re: West Country Way (Devon C2C) GPX track?

That's the one. Off road over Dartmoor and Exmoor with a lot of lanes in between. I should be riding it this weekend (in the rain) with a track estimated from that guide book.

West Country Way (Devon C2C) GPX track?

Does anyone have a gpx file for the "West Country Way" offroad C2C route from Plymouth to Minehead?
I've got one that has been plotted from reading the guide book but has anyone got a tried and tested ridden version they could share?
Thanks
Alan

Re: Colorado Trail Advice

I rode the Colorado Trail Race in 2012 and it was a fantastic but grueling experience. I used a hardtail with 100mm Rebas and a 2.4 tyre up front. If I were to do it again (and I'd love to) I would probably use my short travel full suspension bike, fully rigid would not be an option I'd consider for...

Re: Highland Trail 2015

The GPX track is the same one that we used last year and is from a 2013 ridden track. I probably reduced the number of trackpoints in Bikehike for those with antique GPS units. Generally I will have followed the trail on the ground which does not always match exactly the path on the O.S. map. If you...

Re: Highland Trail 2015

I'd say stick to the GPS track for this river crossing and don't go wandering about in the loch looking for the sand bar! I've done it three times and it has never been a problem, the deepest I've found it was just above my knees in 2013 when I crossed about 10-12 hours after Ian. On the approach I ...

Re: For the armchair SPOT watchers

Is anyone here still following this? Steve has done 9218 miles as of yesterday at an average of 188 miles per day. Kurt, the American in Florida who started 10 days after Steve, is averaging nearly 202 miles per day. Incredible performances from both so far, looking forward to seeing what happens as...

Re: Highland Trail 2015

The food is very good at the Kylesku Hotel but expensive. The posh hotel at Oykel Bridge does good reasonably priced bar meals and a fantastic breakfast, they really looked after folks last year. The hotel at Rosehall does bar meals too. There is another hotel, the Overscaig, 3km off route, by Loch ...

Re: Europe 2015

A couple of friends and I are doing Navad1000 part as our summer bike trip, I'm really looking forward to it. Swiss prices will mean lots of bivvying in the mountains and limited stops at cafes! Hopefully it will be perfect prep for the MB-Race which is two weeks after the start of Navad1000. If not...

Re: Highland Trail 2015

I don't think many finishers have ridden a rigid fork but I know that last year Keith B used one with a 3 inch tyre like in FLV's setup described above. Keith is as hard as nails though! I'll be going with suspension. Quite a few riders have finished the route with numb fingers/nerve damage even wit...

Re: Highland Trail 2015

The referral offer is for the subscription to the annual service plan. The person referred by Iona will also get 20% off their subscription the following year. Since everyone needs to use a SPOT Tracker for HT550 I’m sure they’ll be enough people to easily get her a free subscription. I’d like to wi...

Highland Trail Q&A

The third edition of the Highland Trail group start is now less than six months away and I'm receiving numerous enquires. I'm hoping this post will answer a few of the F.A.Q. Despite calls to add 100-300 km to the route it will stay the same as last year since only 12 of the 37 starters finished. Th...

You're in Dave. I'm in too! With Rich that makes three.
I have a feeling demand for places will be high.
