Sonder camino XL sizing

At 185 cm, 6'1" in old money would an XL camino be too big?

Size guide does say L is up to 6' 2" but thought I'd ask here what people are riding.

Re: Great North Trail vs Pennine Bridleway

What Whitestone says about the Earby to long Preston. The pbw is a depressing trudge especially when soft, where as the back lanes are actually quite pleasant and don't take too long. The pbw from Glossop to hollingworth lake has its failings. This is my alternative which in my opinion is far more e...

Re: North Pennines

High Cup nick is stunning and really not to be missed. Conditions up there amazing at the moment too. As for cow Green, it is very popular with camper vans. We were going to bivvy there a few weeks back but passed a shooting hut open with a fire and wood. Really welcome on a cold night. Here 54.6825...

Re: Clothes layering advice: what under softshell or what on top of merino?

I'm no merino fan either. They make good pj's but that's it. My favourite base layer is a now aging cannondale polartec 100 fleece. Got 2 and they must be 25 years old at least and getting thinner by the minute. But I've never found a base to match them. Wish I'd bought 20, not 2. I can wear it on i...

That sounds like a great improvement.

I like and approve of the 'drop the BBC news'

I also do the no caffeine after lunch. I'd try earlier but I do enjoy my aeropress coffee.

Re: sleeping problems and cures ?

There are so many different causes as shown above. I used to suffer from achy leg syndrome, still do occasionally. Go straight to sleep, wake up an hour later. My best cure was get up, have some cereal, go back to bed an hour later. Now I either get back ache about 4am or just randomly wake up and t...

Re: 'A' poles instead of a single pole

I certainly hadn't thought about the increase in stress, that does make sense.

I'd like to try it, but can't justify the two new poles I'd need as both would obviously be longer than my current single pole.

'A' poles instead of a single pole

So I have a tarp, a bare paws lair to be precise that like many is designed for a single vertical pole. I have such a pole courtesy of Stuart that is great. But as I slept in it the other night I wondered why not have an 'A' pole. It would give so much more room underneath the tarp. The hard bit wou...

Re: Luxurious one person accomodation - HexPeak, Duomid

I really appreciate my terra nova laser competition on those non bivvy nights. 1.1kg, lighter versions are available. I'm 185 tall and there's plenty of room lying down or sitting up. Strictly a 3 pole because of the little diddy end poles but it's stable, has a great porch and if you were very frie...

Re: 26 X 4.5 Fat Bike Tyres Wanted

Are you talking about the original on one fatty? I used to own one and loved it. IMO you can not fit much above 4" in the rear but that will depend on your rims. Mine were standard rims. On the front I too had the carbon fork (highly recommended) and happily ran a 4.8 bud. The combo was great.

That does sound good going, almost what I'd expect from the road bike.

As has been said I guess it varies with conditions, terrain and how much Lancashire slop you get.

Re: Chain rotation?

piemonster - yeah that is exactly what I was thinkink, though perhaps 3 chains is OTT. I too used to do it in the old days , then fatigue set in. I do clean the chain every ride & use squirt normally, although I have just retired it for winter slop. I find it incomaptible with this current Lanca...

For those that rotate their chains on an mtb ?

How many chains and how often?

I am thinking 2 or 3 chains and perhaps every 300 to 500 km.

Exposure bar mount. Upside down?

Does anyone run there exposure bar light upside down? Would it be a daft idea? This is to a set of jones copy bars and the front bar is only 22mm, and I currently do not have the 25mm mount. I normally have the bars slightly angled, ends down and from a general protection point of view underneath mi...
