Re: Organised bikepacking trips? Or anyone interested in small group ride
Not sure the WRT would be the best option for a first trip. You need to get some gear together and just get out: seriously, you are the scariest thing in the woods and, as Laz says, even if discovered folk will give you a wide berth. Unless they have two big black labs. If they have two big black la...

Terrible tent. Just terrible. There are other opinions. But they’re wrong. Terrible. Just terrible.

Re: Flying Easy Jet with gas cannister/CO2/meths in hold bag
Not actually related but I had two jars of Promite confiscated by the friendly and very helpful folk at Sydney Airport recently. Promite is the worlds best yeast extract. Kicks Marmite and Vegemite into the weeds. My fault. Should have gone into the hold bag. I hope they enjoyed it.

Re: Carbon (walking) pole repair?
Stu, this has got to be a potential income stream,eh bloke? You made me a couple of poles for a Lunar Duo some years back, and they actually served my daughter as trekking poles for a few good long walks on some big hills, what with big rubbery tips from the Amazon and handles I removed from some ol...

Re: Slugs!
I thought the other day that I hadn't seen many about. Millions of them in my garden this year. Far more than in previous years. Its only the past two weeks when the temps have dropped a bit that their numbers have reduced. My garden is very sheltered though, and gets a lot of dew, even during the ...

Well Ive given up trying to find anything near me. Being completely colour blind (I only see shades of grey) makes finding orange coloured bits of woods a bit challenging.

Open access land you're not "allowed" to access
This popped up on YooToob and forgive me if it's been done, but I found it hugely interesting to learn more about the concept of open access, and that that are zillions of little and not so little islands of open access land set in private property that have no public right of way to get to them. So...

Helinox. Best weight/comfort ratio around and packs quite small for what it is.

Re: Tour of the Cotswolds
Navigating the Cots is a challenge if you wanna stay off-road. I remember a few years back asking the woman who ran the b&b my wife and I were staying at how far was the walk to a pub we liked the look of. Oh, she said, it’s about 3 miles there and 2 miles back. Bless.

Re: The end of gas stoves: a genuinely new approach to boiling water?
My mates used to build TEG stoves like these 20 years ago, they'd turn up with a big bag of wooden cat litter pellets as they were the best fuel, it always seemed a bit daft to me carrying fuel for a wood stove. I did this once on a wet winter ride. Just carried enough to fill my first little wood ...

Re: Sit Mat
I use one made from a old cut up closed cell foam sleeping mat. It's the exact size of my kitchen cutting board, which is what I used as the template for it. Weights nothing and, when I use it, I roll it into my sleeping kit which goes into my bar harness. I find them very useful when kneeling to co...

Topeak Alien for me too. Bit heavy bit bulky but never fails and has all the bits needed. Plus a Leatherbloke Squirt which has pliers and a knife and a few other tools I've used over the years, included cutting and filing my toe nails, as you do. And a set of BIG tyre levers. Just in case.

It's Reg's birthday: present ideas please.
In fact, I've no idea about the actual date of Reg's birthday, but I do know she is hovering around the 65 milestone and as Im totally broke it'd be nice to get a few ideas for something so I can open a new ISA or summink. Reg: you need to stay off this so as not to ruin the surprise, ya lovely bust...

Re: New BB jerseys - pre-order one now.
Loving that design but if Reg, who has the BMI of a preying mantis, is thinking he needs an XL, where does that leave the normals? I am nearly twice his weight and girth (and height as it happens) so suspect an XXXXXXXXL version might do it? In long sleeve ....

Re: Any simple route planning apps
What about https://ridewithgps.com/ ? I used it for ages and once used to its eccentricities it's great, and I love the various map options it offers. I have zero experience with anything else though, so am happy to be told to STFU so more user friendly and comprehensive options can be considered. I...
