Re: Driver psychology, 1 answer to road space? (MYOG content
Sam of this parish puts his dog in the back of his cargo bike and gets more space, time and respect than he does when he carries his kids. Go figure. I get a lot more space when I am using the dog trailer and more again when the dog is running beside me. I am thinking of putting a sign on the back ...

Re: For Fatbike Fans
I might be interested if they make fatbikes with Rohloff gears. I am sure I have seen one. I love Rohloff. Rohloff is brill. I AM NOT a fettler. Pugsley 2.0 can. And a Shand Tumshie iirc. Work is going on behind the scenes to get this show on the road. :-bd Thanks would have thank you earlier but a...

Re: Are they allowed to do this in Scotland?
I was at a meeting about mountain biking around Galashiels a few months ago and a representative from Bowhill was there. The line he was giving was that a blind eye is turned on cycling on Bowhill estate as far as he was concerned. Seemed to be quite positive about it tbh. Urmm you seem to be sayin...

I was Attacked by an IRA cow. I am working a search dog along a hedge in South Armagh, the other side of the hedge was boggy land (Ireland). There's a cow close to the hedge and it is stock still. The dog won't go past it as he had been thrown by terrorist cow a few months earlier. I went over to sh...

I have never heard them called a dirty water pump. Either way I drop mine into the septic tank soakaway tank! Basically the water comes out of the septic tank and goes into another brick tank. The base is concrete with a 2 foot(a guess) hole in the middle. The brick wall is formed in a circle with a...

TSB £28 per year. Cover is for loss of the bike only. I assume it does not cover you for personal liability. Any bike, no need to name it up to £3,500 anywhere in the world. Normal, must be locked to an immovable object but not specific on quality of lock. Don't have to have any other insurance or b...

Re: Yet again - Leave No Trace.
Interesting conversation but leave no trace is bigger than just do you/don't you have a fire. How many folks on here are packing a trowel to properly bury their sh1t at bivi sites. I love free camping in Scotland but a lot of places are getting to be open sewers. Go to those places with evidence of...

Just bought the dmr v12s used of eBay £20 delivered. If good will get a second pair for other bike. Normally use clips but sometimes don't put feet in. No good of road catching the ground all the time. Might as well use flats. Interested to see how well they grip.

Also, don't know for sure but surely that land-rover phone is going to be some Chinese phone with a fancy(?) case and an (android?) skin by a company whose primary business isn't phones. Or maybe I'm just cynical. The phone is produced by phone designers but probably manufactured in China...what is...

Re: custom steel on/offroad tourer………..idea’s?
Can't recommend Rohloff enough. My Santos did 20k before I bought it, done at least 5+ myself. Changed the oil and that's it. Spuknick rims in immaculate condition after 25k at least. Never needed straightening even by previous owner and showing no wear on the rims at all. Really good off road rim. ...

DO NOT GET ANYTHING FROM DOOGEE. I bought their T5 is months ago on the same basis as you, long battery, waterproof to IP67 etc. It has an inbuilt app that means every time I use the internet, i spend 5 minutes getting rid of popups, some of which are quite dodgy (pardon the pun) the final straw wa...

There is actually a deadline of 1 January 2026, that will mean that footpaths and bridleways that are not recorded on a councils’ official Definitive Map of Rights of Way may no longer be rights of way. The local ramblers have been on a mission to make sure all the trails are mapped, especially the...

Just Sarah and myself not keen then, good, I always like to be a minority . Erosion is an issue, and bad karma. But again, seems a bit hypocritical one advocating stealth bivi but less keen on stealth footpathing . Surely got to be a no-no in high profile areas - Lakes, Peaks etc - but...

Just as matter of interest does anyone use waterproof shorts and what brand do they recommend. At the moment I am wearing shorts all day every day due to an infection in my leg. Trying to keep it open so it will dry out. Trousers are simply rubbing off the very thin scab. Today I had to spend a coup...

Re: waterproof trousers ?
Just keep moving. Its basically about keeping your torso warm as that's where the heat is generated. A good waterproof jacket should always keep you warm. I always use on cold rainy days a good walking jacket and if its really bad a Musto hunting jacket although that can be a little over the top. No...
