Re: MYOG pot stand / windscreen
Thanks for the tips - it's a first go for me and definitely experimental. I'm using a top burning coke can stove which is about 40mm high, giving about 30mm between it and the pot. I did wonder about putting some more vent holes near the top and I'll probably give it a try at some point to see what ...

I'm keen but have yet to do a proper winter bivy. What's the minimum I'll get away with for a sleeping bag? I've been using a Karrimor synthetic "3-season" bag which packs reasonably small but isn't that warm. I can supplement it with a v warm Mountain Equipment down jacket. Is that...

Re: Recipe thread
Microwaveable rice pouches (eg Uncle Ben's) are great. Heated with a splash of water with smoked tofu, black bean or chilli sauce and, if it's a one nighter, spring onions, it's really good. Not super light but then it uses v little water to cook.

I've found a ghetto inflator made from a 2l pop bottle and some valves and flexi tube is really useful for awkward to seal tyres. Search on Singletrackworld forum for instructions.
I can also recommend On-One tyres (Smorgasbord and Chunky Monkey) - mega cheap, good GDP and easy to inflate.
