Re: Insurance on trips

wow, even stolen from a foreign country?

Home insurance is another you have to be careful with. An integrated garage can be classed as an outbuilding, and outbuildings sometimes have their own smaller limits. Policy wording is a minefield - and tedious!

Re: Insurance on trips

I've been looking into this, for my upcoming trip. Be very careful around the policy wording. Insure and go (as a few have recommended) has a single article limit of £1000. That would be your bicycle. I'm sure many have very valuable bikes.

@escape goat Don't worry you're not the only BB200 newbie. I am too. (Though not to Stu's events). I too have a lot of the same apprehensions as you. @john climber. Great. It'll be nice to have some pictures. A fellow photography enthusiast here :ugeek: I'm one of those 6 on the spotwalla page. Got ...

Re: Bb200 Waffle Thread.

Hello. Another BB200 newbie here. The most I'd ridden in one go when signing up was 95km a few years ago. I've since been 'training' (and I've made it up to 100km in daylight. I found I started to get exhausted around 90km, but I believe that's not eating regularly enough. Worried? - no, though I am...

Re: Fed up with Garmin. Alternatives?

I've had a bit of success playing around with my etrex touch being a techie. Turns out a file was corrupt and that file is created on startup. I deleted the corrupt GaminDevice.xml file and all is good again. Even got Garmin to re-instate my expired "birds eye" (OS maps) credits, and they ...

Re: Fed up with Garmin. Alternatives?

Thanks for all the replies! I had looked at the wahoo (it does look good), and others, but without a removable batter you have to plug it in to charge on the go, which in welsh weather could lead to water getting in (or putting it in a waterproof bag). Removable batteries are just a 20 second swap a...

Fed up with Garmin. Alternatives?

I've got a Garmin Etrex 35 touchscreen. It's caused me a lot of problems recently. So I'm looking at alternatives. Can anyone recommend anything? My main requirements are: OS mapping capable/compatible multi-day battery life (be it with replaceable or whatever). Waterproof bar mountable Recently it ...

Re: Ruined Guts... How Long?

I had a similar problem after last years winter event. It lasted about 7 days. Doc also said not to take any diarrhea relief medicine, and take buscopan for the stomach pain. I ate very little during, can't recall if that was involuntary or based on advice. What I did afterwards was buy a water bott...

Re: Do you use your Bear Bones merchandise?

I've used my mug every week day since this year's winter event. Its great. Stops my coffee spilling on the long trek back from the kitchen at work. Though the bearbones branding has washed off :( Also have my Blackburn seat bag I won on the raffle a few years ago that has been on every bikepacking r...

Re: Route help - South Wales

If you're looking for MTB near Cardiff, there's Cwmcarn trail centre, Afan argoed (a bit further). There's also a load of natural singletrack around Caerphilly mountain/Castle Coch/Rudry area. Strava heatmap will help in finding this. There's also the taff trail which is a traffic free (tarmac) rout...

I think the format is great as is. I think if you want to attract new riders it needs more advertising. The first year I attended I knew nothing. I did it alone. I had super noodles, a method stove I couldn't figure out how to use, a sleeping bag only suitable for the tropics. I got lost on a mounta...

Re: North Wales for a couple of days

I'm currently on the peninsula this week. I found there's not much off road here, unless you like sloppy farm fields. On the plus side the roads are quiet (and narrow). It's also hillier than I was expecting. It's worth a trip to the end for the view, but I'd prefer Snowdonia
