Re: The Perfect Bike Packing Bike

We tried a Charge Cooker last week for Mark. Unimpressed. Brakes were shocking (and I use mechanical discs) he is looking at a Genisis tmw. I can tell you at length how much I love my Ogre, rigid 29, she is just brill.

Re: Dulyn Bothy, N Wales. Anyone been there ?

Thanks for the info. We had a great time. Nice cosy bothy, roomy and warm fire. Definitely a party spot. We were 2 of 9, all the others from Devon and London, come up for the weekend just to stop there.... Dogs had a great time too.

Wow, just want to say GOOD LUCK and keep us updated.

Spend a day or 3 in Pokara if you can, lovely place [or it was 25 years ago !]

It is on my 'would be ace to do' list.

Re: Lake District - Campsites

Tarn Foot, just outside Langdale is fabulous, but no shower. Quiet, friendly, laid back etc. It has got a tap !!!!

Stayed in one a bit bigger in Patterdale by a pub which was really nice and bit more in the way of facilities. Sorry, cant remember the name.

Re: Numo or Cloudbase?

I have the Numo and very happy with it so far, I like the ridgieness, it sort of works my back. Bit like an Inertia x frame. It has stood up to a few trips now, easy to inflate, no issues, nice n light.

Didnt see the Cloudbase when buying mine, agree, cant see much difference.

So many choices !

Re: Sleeping bag recommendations please

I agree it is worth investing well here. I still have my Rab bags I brought to take to Nepal in 1989, they are still used regularly. I am also on the cold side [Reynaulds doesnt help] so I use liners, fresh dry clothes to sleep in and even double up bags at times. As for zipping together, I found Ra...

Re: Films - what would you like to see?

Anything interesting/inspirational/unusual for mere mortals who only want to ride 50 miles a day [or less].

Its good to see 'the boys' riding balls to the wall occasionally, but I would rather watch stuff that makes me think 'I want to do that/go there'

Cheers

Re: small tent on jones bars?

I have Jones Bars and my Terra Nover Laser [tiny] 2 person tent with tarp and waterproof fit under modestly, could easily take more, but as I have Anything cages on forks, dont want to add too much weight on front.

Go for it.

Re: 'Coddiwomple'

Sounds like many adventure races I have done in TX/US, except they mix it up with some kayaking and walking too. You never know what is happening next, after the group of controls you have, or when you will be done or if there is just a little bit more added on.

Samsung Galaxy J5 ? used one ?

Yawn, still trying to figure out some technology, tough for a blond dinosaur  Looking at getting a new phone I think. Current one is cheap and frustrating; teeny memory, rubbish GPS signal, it is fine for basic call/text/surf at home [Huawei] :geek: Want something for back up mapping on trips...
