Re: WRT only 8 weeks away
i have got a lift to Middleton Top on the monday evening and then 4 days to get as far along the PBW as possible. Certainly won't be a strenuous pace and hopefully there will plenty of opportunities to refuel, rehydrate and dry the Welsh moisture from my soggy gear!

Re: WRT only 8 weeks away
Super excited here - it will only be my 2nd WRT. I have the following week off to recover whilst cycling the Pennine Bridleway Way before the Moors 100. My plans to ride between the three rides have been scrapped on the grounds of I am not very good! The opportunities for over packing / thinking are...

Re: Wildcat - the final sale
Lion, Lioness, Tiger and Ocelot user and bikepacking novice here (probably less than 2k miles). My Wildcat set up is the only thing I haven't had to question or vary since I started. Thank you.

Re: Bivvy a month 2019
2 / 12 TheBrownDog and myself ticked off feb over the weekend. 20 miles of the finest chilterns to a pub for a quick pint and then on to Tim’s secret barn for dinner, a fire and rum. The beautiful weather was repeated today and another 20miles retracing are steps to try and find a lost exposure ligh...

Re: WRT to MoorsOneHundred - possible route
thanks for the offer of help Chew - I certainly need it! My thinking about the PBW is that the riding will be off road and hopefully b stunning, a more direct route could see me riding roads between Doncaster and York (no offence meant but I grew up around there). My trip is less about completing th...

Re: WRT to MoorsOneHundred - possible route
Sorry Mike. I missed both last year due to the birth of daughter no. 2. She is probably going to disown me, along with the rest of the family, for missing her 1st birthday! After further research I wonder about incorporating the Pennine Bridleway in my route north. I am now worried I wont be able to...

WRT to MoorsOneHundred - possible route
Just had notification that MOH is the following weekend after WRT - would it be even feasible to consider a 4 day ride linking the two.
Google suggest 250 miles but with an interesting off road route that could easily double!

Re: Bar roll bracket ( instead of a harness)
I don't think this would be man enough for the job and it probably needs more forward projection, to ensure the bar roll clears the cables and head tube, but I am sure it wouldn't beyond the Bearboners to fabricate something similar. It is beyond my bodge set although I thought I could make a protot...

TBD I would love to come along (subject to usual domestic humdrum blockers falling into line).
I am not that local to the Chilterns (Sunbury) but am starting work for a new client in Wooburn Green next week and am keen to explore the after work bikepacking potential.

Re: I was cold last night
Thanks for all the responses. Stu interesting you thought the 400 not warm enough - what did you buy instead? I do have a silk liner but I find it hard enough getting in and out of the bivvy and sleeping bags without a third layer. I like the idea of using my jacket as a blanket, taking the quilt wi...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019
1/1 With renewed determination I have launched the 2019 BAM campaign. The previous two years have come up short so here is hoping third time lucky. I had a lift to Dorking so only a 7 mile cycle up to Leith Hill with a quick pint at the Plough enroute. Bivvy up in the shadow of the tower, rum coffee...

I was cold last night
My Exped Downmat Winterlite and Pipedream 400 partially failed me last night (both inside a Hunka XL) According to the Garmin in it was a mild -2 celsius (28.4F) at 5am in the Surrey Hills. Alpkit's website suggest the 400 should be good for most people down to -6C. I was wearing thermal leggings, t...

Anyone tried a fidlock twist? Looks a brilliant idea and more convenient than my squashed side entry cages but not sure it’s £20 betterer

Re: Trans Cambrian Way
The TCW beat us. My friends were in too much pain to complete the official route and we ended riding the last third on day two and three on the road. We also paid for official camping at the campsites in Rhayader and Llangurig. However everything else was great. The route is stunning; the conditions...

Re: The Traversée du Massif Vosgien, Alsace, France
In June I completed the 260 miles and 35,000 of climbing. I think technically it was off road touring rather than bike packing - I had a hammock, a sleep mat and spare footwear FFS! It was my longest ever cycling tour and I loved it. I drafted a write up but it was so boring it wasn't worth publishi...

The IMBA info says you can park round the back of the Offa’s Dyke Centre if you let them know. I have emailed them about parking this weekend but no response so far.

First atttempt next weekend - no records will be broken (well maybe a new slowest time)
I have read plenty of threads but any specific tips? Assume it is a given that conditions will be wet and boggy
thanks
