Re: BB200 - GPS Failures?
I think the two lads I rode back with with failed GPSs had a 510 and a 1000 between them. My etrex 30 was ace - when I ran out of tube options and had to bail, I just zoomed in to the school on the map, and told it to route me back on road for time (on the assumption that would mean bigger flatter r...

Grim side effects of overdosing on beetroot juice. Have tried that a couple of times, still not convinced it does anything. Everything is still coming out purple Meta-analysis agrees with you - https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Bronwen_Lundy/publication/270978401_Dose_response_of_nitrate_supplem...

Mille Pennines
A couple of people on BB200 expressed interest. I note that half the places are now gone, so heads up if you are thinking about it. Given Some food and shelter are included, less than £60 for entry for a 1000km event seems a bargain to me. EVENT Distance: 1006 km (provisional) Ascent: 11750 metres (...

I strongly recommend these for repairing tubeless tyres... if you don't already have them that is: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41BPKjgkZIL.jpg http://www.evanscycles.com/products/genuine-innovations/tubeless-tyre-repair-kit-ec028981 The last set of tyres I had kept getting little slashes ...

Re: BB200 Route Details
Was having great fun with Peter, Ian, and then mostly Stuart up to the descent towards the chippy at ~120km. Sadly, a nail made a good job of turning the tubeless strip in my front wheel into a pin cushion, but even the road ride back to the start was fun - amazing scenery, and great trails. Definit...

Re: More 29+ goodness.
That looks like an ICAN - but aren't those B+ tyres? I have their fork on my Stache 9 - $130USD. Turned up with the wrong thru-axle and the dropout poorly tapped out. To be fair, Melody at ICAN wants to put it right, and is great over email. Took maybe 3 weeks from ordering to arrive. got hit for £2...

Do any of you know how to organise an arrow team? I've never done one. Definitely up for it the easter one is to York, right? Goal is 400km+?

Here's my set up: https://flic.kr/p/ziT2mt In the end I reduced the size of the rear bag and will be putting food in a bum bag. Bike just under 30 lbs as pictured, but excludes water. That looks really fast. Finished packing - a few paranoia items - emergency fibre spoke, spare cleats, spare links....

Re: "Audax chat" thread
Doing Mille Pennines next year. Easter Fleches, the BCM, and Mr Pickwick are also on the calendar, I've a pretty low DNF rate in audaxes, except for Easter Fleches in which I'm 1 finshed from 3 started  . However, if you fancy putting a BearBones team together next year give me a shout! Hvaing...

Whilst Audax is being discussed, is anyone else doing the Mille Pennines?
Very tempted by the Irish ride and the highlands 1200, but have never done BCM and fancy the tan hill 600.

Re: strong and light tarp guy lines
I use dyneema with mini line loks, and it works great for me. It also means I can fit the bicycle 3.5 in the bag it came with - with 3mm alpkit stuff I couldn't get it back in the bag with the cord pre tied. Line loks are a thing if joy for those of us with poor fine motor skills. I can sit at home ...

Fussy as f*ck in my experience, and exact same experience of shutting down when hot,. I've tried Jetboil, coleman and go power so far. Only happy with coleman IME, but other report other patterns. Wouldn't play at all with jetboil, and spitty with the go power. Local camping shop owner used to work ...

Re: BB200 Route Details
Any tips of filling up on water after Llanraeadr ym Mochnant? I'm currently planning to fill from streams (bringing mini filter), but if there are pubs en route that I'm missing, I'd be interested to hear. I'm only seeing The Goat Inn, and that closes at 11pm.

Checked the YACF thread... clicked on the paypal link... then checked I had a pass. Fortunately I do. I'm in. Should be fun. Pendle 600 remains the most challenging ride I've done - much harder than LEL, and I got a grade 2 pressure sore on that!

The boost 110 fork from the ICAN Stache ripoff. http://www.icanbikes.com/html/MTB/PAINTING_COMPLETE_BIKE/321.html Communication was good, the parcel tracking worked well, and it arrived quicker than they estimated. New forks arrived from China on Friday, but the dropout thread wasn't cut properly. Tried to sort today - LBS didn't have the right tap, and neither did any of the garages. Found an engineering firm up a backstreet that does stuff for Boeing, and even they didn't - said it was an odd metric thread. ...

Loop bars on my Stache. Very stable platform for dry bags, much fewer upper body aches. Just wish they weren't so heavy / carbon ones so expensive.
