Hi all, looking for a bit of knowledge/wisdom from the boners...
Those electric/battery mini air bed pumps, are they any good?
Any recommendations for a decent model that won't break the bank or take up too much space?
Cheers

turbo trainer bike computers
family life now means pretty much all midweek riding is now on a turbo trainer. I pass the boredom with a laptop on a stool in front of me but I was wondering if there were any "indoor bike" computers out there to help add a bit of structure, thinking maybe a heart rate monitor. From my li...

Keeping down gear packed
I normally keep all my down gear (sleeping bags, quilts and jackets) nicely lofted at home except for when I pack them on rides in stuff sacks/dry bags. Never made my ride on Saturday so I'm going next weekend instead. I could be lazy and leave everything packed on the bike or I could take the down ...

Re: Spot Tracker Wanted thread.
Anyone got a spare Spot I could borrow for the November BB200 please?
Obviously happy to pay funds, just contacted Spot and don't quite fancy stumping the £70 fees just a one off event.
Cheers

What powerbank
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a powerbank... usual moon on a stick, not too bulky/heavy, able to give a couple of charges and able to take the odd knock etc.
I'm tempted with the Alpkit ones but if other types are used by the boner masses.
Cheers

Re: Sit Mat
Now the little Barneys are a bit older I just use one of their old baby changing mats from a carry bag.
It's waterproof, has a bit of padding and can easily be rolled up.

Re: Varicose veins... ouch!
This all sounds lovely  I've decided not to get any, anyone know how I ensure this*? (*genuinely interested if there's an accepted cause or if they just sometimes happen to some folk???) Oh nowt to it Gairy.... local anesthetic, fibre optic laser goes up the vein from ankle to groin and they...

Re: Varicose veins... ouch!
My wife keeps suggesting I get some removed - are the reasons just for looks? Yeah, I'm pretty much the same, able to do light turbo training but that's about it. Nothing cosmetic about getting mine done, they were incredibly irritating and I would end up subconsciously scratching them and breaking...

So I've just had my varicose veins removed, bloody hell it's a lot more painful than I expected.
Anyone else had them removed and what was your recovery time like?

Re: Epilepsy, riding bikes and bike packing.
Hi Loki, I too have been diagnosed with epilepsy, I'm now 53. I went through a phase of losing confidence over all sorts of issues including should I ride alone or is it fair to ride with others etc. I've been bike-packing for over 10 years now and reckon I have a good balance and management. I make...

Hi Dave,
The wildcat gets my vote. Fits on a number of different options/sizes of bags and and different bars types.
You can also easily get replacement straps when you lose them like a buffoon!

long bike ride... lights (possible BB200 content)
So... I may or may not be silly enough to attempt a ~199km ride later in the year around mid-Wales but at the moment I don't have suitable lights such a long ride, what what would you recommend please? Can't afford a dynamo or owt fancy like that, any suggestions on good strategies would be extremel...

Re: Warm gloves - but not too cumbersome
I bought a cheapo pair of "lobster" gloves from PlanetX a few weeks ago. Cheap as chips and more than did a job on the only very cold ride I've done this year.
