I've done a fair few OMM and Polaris events in my time. They're fine if you want a competitive edge to your riding, but as Stu says, a weekend at your own pace is much more rewarding (and cheaper).

The North Face sleeping bag on the outdoor kit website is quite a bargain, but the pack size is 58cm X 18.5 cm, and weighs 1445g for a down bag!

As someone who sleeps cold, my only concern is that it wouldn't be warm enough. I think the comfort rating is 2 degrees.
