I usually plan on them lasting about a year. Get better than that if you use a seal pick to take off the seals and pack them with extra grease.

Warning on the mudhugger. The plastic is helitape to put between the mudhugger and the frame. Keep an eye on this as I had it wear through the tape and the paint on my frame on my full sus. Caught it before it wrecked the rear stays thankfully. I've now got helitape, then gaffer tape on top. It's an...

Voted for shotgun shack as it reminded me of a similar time being woken by somebody spotlighting foxes.

My oookworks inner for the Trailstar is Chikara. Great stuff, not as slidy as silnylon so a good floor material.

On - selling things
How do you figure out postage costs? Particularly if you're selling a few things and could put together, or aren't sure how much it'll cost. Also, tracking or not? Had bad luck with eBay but think forum selling might work ok. Got loads of surplus to requirements stuff but never seem to get round to ...

However, I'll eat my words if he does a Gates Foundation kind of thing Gates started out trying to be successful and make money. Musk started out deciding what problems he thought needed solving and working towards that. It's not just getting to Mars, it's establishing a colony so if an asteroid (o...

Re: Admiring the night sky - for how much longer?
Those with the brains and money to do something about the worlds problems play with space toys. To be fair to Musk (he "is" SpaceX) that's just one of the world's problems he thinks he's solving. His other angle of attack is electric cars with Tesla. Whether Tesla are ultimately successfu...

But I don't expect anyone will care ... Is all we can do boycott Amazon etc? Actually... makes me livid that there's nothing people won't f up for profits. To be fair to SpaceX the profits are intended to go towards getting to Mars rather than pursuit of pure profit. That's the story (which I tend ...

Re: Silnylon or Silpoly
Got the new lunar solo in sil-poly. Seems good after one outing (thanks for the right sized pole Stu :). Didn't sag like sil-nylon can. Still convinced I'm an idiot though as I did a fair bit of research and was convinced I needed the urethane(?) Sealant instead of the silicon one. It then all peele...

Apologies in advance as I'm sure this is going to be annoying! Are you going to do the small under saddle top tube pack you can see in the saddle bag pic too? Been thinking about one of them for a while. Also, what's the width and length of the top tube back (1.2 litre). Thanks Stu, they all look go...

Not sure I'd avoid Merino. Great for smell over long trips. It does get quite sweaty when you're pushing hard though. Been experimenting with more synthetic recently and it's great if you're not out for more than a day.

Useful for me too! Been wondering if the new Trance 29er is much different to my 2013 one which giant discontinued.
Sadly it does look quite different, was trying to feel smug about my old bike .
Thanks.

Interesting thanks Stu. The DIY one looks like it might be a project if I can get some free time. Kids might quite like lunch made over that one day.
How do you feel about using these, given the LNT ideal? I'd expect you can probably clear a small area of dirt and cover it up afterwards?
