Re: BB200 Route.
Blizzard bag and SOL bag are different things though I would like to see him pack an "opened" Blizzard bag into the dry bag he had. The blizzard bag is opened Bob I used it on the htr ,one of my fundamental errors as I used as a bivvy bag with the cumulus 150 this year. It's now str...

Re: Jones bars, comfort and numbness
I have the carbon ones with esi grips, on the lurcher I ran them at 20 degrees and on the stooge I've found that a 24 degree angle is better, not sure if there is some relation to head angle/fork rake vs bar angle, or whether it needs to be horizontal to the head tube as a starting point. I also did...

Re: BB200 Route.
I just filled my dry bag with paper to make it look full! Only joking I had a blizzard bag and rab vapour rise alpine jacket in the wildcat saddle bag, arm warmers, knee warmers, silk gloves, buff and Crikey, how much's insulated brevet gilet in the backpack and rear jersey pockets. Just enough to s...

Re: BB200 Tyres/Bike
You might be in luck yet Bob as i'm running out of time to sort my bike out properly which will result in me throwing it in the back of the car on thursday night and using it in whatever state its in! I was trying to get the time to bicycle the Lurcher up for one last hurrah so think yourself lucky!...

I tend to rotate between sweet and savoury so that I never get sick of one thing, I try and carry all the food I need to see me through the day as well. But usually I pick up something as well from a shop at some point most often a chocolate treat!

Roughly 26 climbs last year and about 18 this year, well thats a moral booster straight away! Oh and only 15'000 feet of climbing as well, bonus again. That means that they all must be stupidly steep gradients going through 3 foot tall bracken and yomping over tussocks the same height.

I'll be most likely running my standard maxxis ardent up front and maxxis ikon on the rear, seems to work best on all trails and wears very well.

Re: Yorkshire Dales 200
Well done Bob, I dragged the stooge around with plused up wheels 29+ front on chronicle and 27.5+ rear ikon plus, was super comfy and an absolute riot downhill but was a major weight penalty going up with it weighing over 29lbs, still made an excellent day out and training session and I got to do a ...

Re: Failed first attempt at lakes 200 but learning
The biggest thing is learning how light kit wise you can go and still feel comfortable you've got everything to survive if the weather goes miserable! Small rucksack and saddle pack as you mention is the best combo to go for. My suggestion to unable to sleep from personal experience is a possible co...

Oh and if its on your doorstep its rude not too that's why I did it.

That's really nice!! trying to decide on a new frame for next season and torn between titanium or 853 really like the easy maintainence of a raw ti frame. I'm trying to decide between a stooge and a shand I like the versatility of the shand between drive systems, but its not ti and always like my bi...

Re: Todays ride
I had a trip round the Dales 200 yesterday as couldn't make the group start. A stunning day but very cold out of the sun. It's a great route with lots of rideable sections (don't worry there is the odd bit of pushing though) there are quite a few sections that are already soft after a couple of rai...
