No change for me this week-still 95kg.
Need to try and get out more after work

Re: Do I want a Geared Hub?
I have a rohloff on my hardtail and think they are great for winter riding. I never touch it and it just keeps working. The only drawbacks, as mentioned above, are upfront cost and, for me, the fact that you have to back off the pedals slightly to change gear. Although used to it, I prefer the chang...

Toro on the bars and joystick on the helmet for me. I’ve always thought the Toro is a good mixture of run time, weight and size.

Re: FS: Haglofs Barrier Insulated trousers size Large
Hi Mac, waist measures 17” across the front when laid flat. As they have a velcro adjuster at the front, they should be fine for 34-36” waist. I’ll pm you my paypal details.
Thanks

In excellent condition as have hardly been used-hence the sale. Synthetic insulation and are great for sitting around camp in the winter. Asking £40 posted or collected from Sheffield.

Sram rival certainly used to be available 2x11, as I have that on one of my bikes. It is a few years old though, so might only be 1x now?

Hi Stu, I’ll take the sk22 hydration pack if you don’t mind. Will be grand for my youngest daughter. I’ll collect at the winter event.

Re: What you doing next year?
So far for me it is: Winter event Dirty Reiver with my brother (if I can keep up with him!) Something for a week in May when off on half term-maybe up to Cape Wrath in the An Turas Mor or a trip to Europe. The Ardennes Arbalete route off bikepacking.com on the tandems with the kids in the summer hol...

I really rate the exposure blaze-pulses like the trace and has good battery life and excellent back up as Steve says.

Hi Rich, are you doing a talk in the Peak at all? I too would like to hear more about tour trip, but will struggle to make Keswick at the weekend.

Re: Thumbs up to Thermarest
Same here. I had an original green neoair replaced for free last year-again I wasn’t really expecting that when I sent it in. The replacement developed a small leak that I couldn’t find so I sent it in for repair and they replaced that as well! Fantastic service and well worth the upfront cost for t...

Flats for me. I much prefer walking in fell running shoes to cycling shoes! Although I’m prepared to accept that I might just have the wrong cycling shoes as plenty of others are happy on clips!

This will be my 7th BB200. My 100% completion record came to an end last year! I did my first one in 2012 and missed 2015 (although rode the route afterwards).

Re: Bikepacking packing
I suspect that there is a degree of personal preference here, but this works for me: Front roll: mat, quilt, bivvy bag and tarp. Also a down gilet and hat if likely to be cold. Rear pack: stove and pan, evening meal and any spare clothes for the evening. Frame bag: poles for tarp, waterproofs, tools...
