Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Think I might give up BAM next year, I've done it for 3 consecutive years but it's time to do more with the family so next year we are all going to do BAM (bothy a month) together :-bd The girls bikes are sub standard so the first few will be easy walks in, hoping I can get them new bikes before we ...

Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy.
doesn't look like a snowy epic is on the cards  Damn! I bought a fat bike partly based on watching you gently pootle past me last year through the snow en route to the bothy, so some proper riding of it would have been fun. My tyres are nearly an inch fatter than last year but still far from f...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Which app is that? Sounds handy That sounds great. I tend to screenshot the OS overlay on VV, and then cross reference that with the OS map on my Garmin. It’s an imperfect science, especially when the screenshot doesn’t cover that one extra square you decide to go after... The app is called "E...

Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy.
Meeting there at 2 sounds good to me, I had planned to eat in the bothy later on and just have a couple of beers in town. Perhaps we can evaluate the situation once we reach Newtonmore and decide where to go although it sounds like the boggy bit might be a bit miserable.

I downloaded an app onto my phone that shows you OSM mapping with the VV squares overlayed onto it, handy if your out and about and just need a wee out and back to grab a particular square

I'm going to make my own way up I think Alasdair, I'm Fife bound on the Sunday so it'll save me getting on a train full of Christmas market goers! What time are we thinking for meeting up? Your choice, I can pick you up en route and drop you in the kingdom on the Sunday if that’s any easier for you...

Cheery Friday before Depressing Saturday. It's my 60th tomorrow and I'm taking it hard. Distraction requires that I escape to Barra for the weekend. At least that way my Mrs can't spring a surprise party on me. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4876/45967492142_c43ee41c7d_c.jpg DSC_0004 by Colin Cadde...

Can't you just pay it into their Bark Account? I probably could Colin but this is fairly longstanding arrangement ... maybe time for some modernisation me thinks. You know, sometimes I wonder why I bother..... Don't worry Colin, I got it. Aye you were barking up the wrong tree with that one Colin!

Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy.
My only thought was the bit after Newtonmore - Colin have you done this? Depending on how the pub goes we could just cut straight up to the Bothy via the wee dead end road alongside the A9 You mean skip the bit between Newtonmore & Kingussie? Happy to go along with that if it's a rubbish bit of...

WTB Tough/Light Compounds
I've managed to tear the casing of my rear tyre on my Ramin (WTB Trailblazer 27.5x2.8 on a scraper i45) right alongside the rim somehow. I'm looking at replacing it with a Ranger as per Stu's recommendation earlier this year. Question is though, do I go for Light High Grip or Tough and Fast? Is ther...

Finally managed to get myself up to 12x12 on last nights bivvy. It involved a fair bit of bushwhacking and a reroute after a bovine altercation but I done it! I've got some holidays coming up so hopefully I can push it out to 13 or 14 before the end of the year

3 courses Blair? Very nice. Very civilised. What's on the menu then? "my BAM attempt must go on" - that's the BBB spirit :-bd. It is indeed quite convivial Reg, I had noodles in a cup to start followed by some splendid beans in a bag finished off with a bag of wine gums and a strawberry w...

My lights packed in a couple of weeks ago and I've not gotten round to replacing them yet but my BAM attempt must go on. It's not even 7 o'clock and my tent is up and I've had starters already, knew it would be a long night so I've 3 courses and a hip flask full of monkeys shoulder to get through be...

A mudhugger for the Ramin, hopefully it keeps me a bit less manky in the winter slop! The back ones are mint but you'll still get wet Bollox off the front ones ,had them on the longitude last winter and just put them back on not a bit of spray comes off the back wheel Add a flap to the front one an...
