Hunt wheels have a 40% off nearly new used, reconditioned and serviced wheel sets. If only they did this a couple of months ago. https://www.huntbikewheels.com/blogs/news/the-nearly-new-sale?utm_source=The+Rider+Firm+Journal&utm_campaign=c44399d316-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_01_14_09_23&utm_medium=...

Waterproofing
I have a banjobrothers commenting bag which is made out of condora I think. It’s ok for light showers but anything more it sets out and I have had items get wet inside. I’ve tried nikwax direct, but that’s not helped at all. So I thought why not try cotton wax, the wax they use on wax jackets. Seen ...

Re: DIY pot cosy
Or as another option, if you don’t mind paying is Tredlite gear who make insulated cook pot bags.
I’ve got one. It’s insulated on the bottom and sides and the top is wider so you can pull it down the sides of the pot.

Are they still going, not heard anything from them for ages?
I had a few bags from them in the past. Still use their bar bag harness but I’ve moved onto other company’s now.

Re: Bike Packing Cooking
I think this highlights a couple of different approaches to bikepacking. In the main, I enjoy riding into the evening and making the most of the day by being on the move. As a result, my food options are either indoors - before I ride somewhere to settle for the night - or outdoors once I've stoppe...

Bike Packing Cooking
Obviously TLS applies, however ........ At the moment I use an Evernew Titanium 600ml, wide pot with a Stormin stove titanium cone and alcohol stove. Good enough for boiling water. As it’s titanium it can manage wood if ever needed. In general when I’m bikepacking I take a pre-mixed porridge/powdere...

Re: Map reading.....info
Fastest way to map read is do do some orienteering with a local club. I used to think I was fit until I started doing orienteering. I was 30 and it took me a year to get to the same fitness as guys in their 50s. They use to say it’s like reading the times, doing the crossword whilst running for the ...

Re: Ti bolts: part 2
I have a Sonder Camino Titanium and I think I’ve replaced almost every single bolt to Titanium. So far had no issues. I got them from TiBike I’ve had Ti bolts from hope and they round off the top so got replacement Ti bolts from TiBike for disc rotors. One major plus is when bikepacking and leaving ...

Re: lunar solo top vent
Not had my new Lunar Solo out in the wild yet but the garden pitch didn't leave the top vent very open. Is there a trick to keeping the vent open or do I have to use a stick/fashion something to keep it venting? Stu. The guy out line that runs on the inside of the tent. I run mine on the outside wh...

I would say, maybe Arkose, but sadly because of who owns Evans now, I could not morally, personally buy anything from them.
Have you thought about sonder bikes as an option?

Titanium Disc Rotor Bolts
What is the thoughts on installing titanium disc rotor bolts.
Grease or thread lock?
I understand that’s its thread lock for steel bolts but should not use it for titanium as the bolts could seize. Correct?

Re: Son female spade connectors
Hi, I’ve bought a load of the SON specific spade connectors for my SON 28 dynamo hub. If you can wait a few days I could post a few to you. I also have some of the double connectors. These allow you to connect a light and then a USB charger to the same connector on the hub connector. Let me know and...

Re: Possible Tent,
For a 1 person tent my first thoughts are it’s too heavy, too small and too expensive for what it is.
I second a suggestion of a six moon designs Luna solo. And then a very nice carbon pole from bearbonesbikepacking shop.

26” on gravel bike?
Might be a strange question, but I’m thinking about 26” wheels on a gravel bike for winter. I use one of my sondor Camino bikes everyday for work and planning all through winter. Last year used my MTB with 26 spiked tyres but that is no longer an option. I’ve been trying to find some 750b ice stud t...

When I’m cycling to and from work down country lanes, I’m shocked at the amount of litter in the verges. This is the attitude that crosses into some that do outdoor activities. In reference to fires in the outdoors, maybe this is in part due the rise in popularity of bushcraft, particularly from you...
