There is some good suffering going on out there this year, the like of which hasn't been seen since 2015.
This is making me think that it could be a good idea to have another crack in 2020.

Re: Does Tyre Sealant Go Off?
It depends a lot on how warm it gets. I used to have problems with mine in a shed in Scotland in summer where it could get very warm. It would get cooked and go solid after a while. I ended up keeping it in the house where the temperature was more stable. The stuff in the bike tyres also deteriorate...

Also wondering if you're going back for another shot Greg? I know at the time that had been your plan, but I guess times change!

Are you able to get the funding link? Quite a few on here who don't have Facebook, and she may not be that easy to find.

Re: Jenny Graham -Around the World Record Attempt
Looks like today is the last day of riding for Jenny! About 160km to go.
Seems like she pretty much pulled an all nighter last night too!

A two speed penny farthing would indeed be vaguely exciting!
Shlumpf hubs are a bit pricey though.... CHF 1,421 + VAT + Shipping! So over £1,300!

Looks like Jenny has a plane to catch. She didn't stop for more than a couple of hours last night. Still a couple of hundred km to get to Halifax and the flight to Europe.

Re: Herding cats is a thankless job
It seems to me like an extraordinary attack by the organiser on the people who signed up for his event! please, don’t go about hiding behind ‘authorities’ or blaming the race director because of your own inadequacies Basically the organiser planned the event, and failed to attract sufficient quantit...

Re: Mike Hall's inquest - Guardian report
Just seen what Mike's mum Pat has posted on facebook. I came half way across the world for my boy. I attended the Inquest and sat for three days listening to the evidence I knew whatever the findings will be that I have to live with it. There is no blame no anger and no recriminations I went for my ...

Re: Mike Hall's inquest - Guardian report
I personally don't think riding on open roads is safe or wise.
But I'm still going to do it anyway because I get a lot out of it and even though the risk is there it isn't that bad.

Fair enough Dave! One day you'll get those fabled conditions with dry trails, no midges and warm breezes.

Steve +1. Somebody put him back on his bike.
After today's weather has passed through it doesn't look too bad for the remainder of the forecast period.

I got it from Biketreks in Ambleside.
It's this one in fact: https://www.bike-treks.co.uk/1171897/pr ... build.aspx
Not the best build, but all functional kit.

I picked up an Ibis Ripley for £2,500.
Really nice bike. Climbs so well on technical stuff and descends like a magic carpet.

Re: Silk Road Mtb Race
Has anyone started making plans to go and tour the route?
Would this route be suitable without the logistical assistance from the organisers?
Does anyone know the technicalities of getting the necessary visas/permits?

Lee is back on course now. Seems like she missed out a big chunk of road and went through a mountain pass on a tiny or non-existent track instead. Definitely interesting sightseeing!

Re: long grips
As above I feel that with my hands at the end of the bars I need to be able to have a finger on the brake lever. For my Tour Divide setup I used the 210mm ESI grips, but cut them so that about 50mm was inboard of my brake levers. This meant I had another option of where to put my hands when in cruis...

I'd recommend Freesole. It's flexible and has held on well for me in the past.
I have a pair of Rime shoes with the same problem. Haven't got round to fixing them yet.
