Excellent plan. Time to tick off the 300, too, I reckon (there will be a 300km option, right?).

Re: Cambrian Eagle Mystery Solved
Mike / HUX - yep, likely the same bird. The Staircase was “home” early on, and Charlie lived at the farm just down the road. Reg - yes, very impressive. Trousers remained intact :-bd Re: persecution. I’m reading a book on Rewilding Scotland at the moment, and there’s an account of the clearance of G...

Re: Cambrian Eagle Mystery Solved
I think that eagle might be the same bird that used to belong to Charlie Watkins Williams Wynn, who lives near Abergwesyn. I’ve got a photo of it somewhere sat on a fence post in Nant yr Hwch forest. They’re quite big birds close up! Never saw it after that day, though.

Re: 'Doping scandal of the Highland Trail 550'...?
Ian- didn’t mean to be short in my response to you, it’s just all this happened last May, so whilst interesting (and we’d all love to know whodunnit) it’s hasn’t really been talked about for getting on for a year. By the way, I had dropped out by day 2, so it wasn’t me!😃 No offense taken, Steve - d...

Re: 'Doping scandal of the Highland Trail 550'...?
I’m certainly not criticising Alan for the call he made. Was just looking at it with some objectively (which I’m sure Alan also did, so it was a tough call to make). Asking someone to come forward presumes one of the riders was guilty, which might not be the case. As it is, everyone is guilty until ...

in a place where only riders would have been That's an interesting assertion. I'm guessing that the condition of the packet/contents was such that it hadn't been lying out long but the HT550 route is on established paths and tracks. Indeed. Maybe no-one admitted it, because it wasn't a rider that d...

Those are pretty nifty. Would definitely have been useful for Rovaniemi. I had something that did a similar thing, but much more bulky, for strapping my fuel bottle to the front of my seat post. This would have been much neater.

Today,
1. A pair of treecreepers. Normally only ever see one, so a pair somewhat unusual (though it is that time of year)
2. Milk in glass bottles from the milkman.
3. Eggs from our own hens.

Re: Revelate Spinelock Seat Bag
As an aside; Perhaps the most pivotal milestone was in 2013 when Revelate Designs launched the Terrapin, the first waterproof saddle bag to use a modular holster system for quickly detachable, off-bike packing and unpacking. Wildcat launched the Tiger in 2012, also a waterproof saddle bag to use a m...

Re: FS: Stooge Ti Fatbike | XTR | DT Swiss | Middleburn
Hi Phil,
Rear hub spacing is 170mm (100mm bb shell)
Clearance at chainstay is 120mm, so lots of clearance for 4” tyres.
BB to seat clamp is 460mm
BB to where seat stays and top tube meet seat tube is 335mm.
HTH
Give me a shout if you’d like to swing a leg over it.
Ian

FS: Niner RKT 9 rolling chassis
I'm likely to regret parting with this too, but bought originally as a tool for fast ITT's, but I haven't had time or money to complete this project. Selling as a rolling chassis, as it's all Boost sizing, so the parts complement each other and only require a groupset and cockpit components to compl...

I might regret selling this, but here goes: One of a kind Stooge Ti Fatbike. One of only three made, and the only one with a single toptube. Fantastic geometry, great fun on trail and snow alike. Spec as follows: Stooge Ti Fat - one size, comparable with any other Stooge frame and fits me to a tee a...

Re: helicopter tape, where recommended to buy?
Wildcat used to do the genuine 3M copter tape. But they changed the price (it trebled) and the minimum order quantity (10 fold increase, iirc). At the time, we couldn't quite justify sinking £1500+ into sticky tape that we didn't sell all that often :???: However, try some of this: https://www.amazo...

I’ll get some pics sorted when I get the bike fully together later today, but in essence, slimming the sleeping system down for races where I might be on a minimal strategy of 2-4 hours sleep. I’d like to experiment with a half bag and down jacket combo, which coupled with a goretex bivvy and klymit...

Re: Salsa go SS Gravel.
Underwhelmed. What’s so special about it, apart from the gold plate? I built my first singlespeed for £300, iirc, using second hand parts, based on a Singular Swift. Granted, I have a much more expensive SS now, but those where the days :-bd That said, there must be a cheaper option in the UK via Si...
