Re: 11spd on hope free hub?

I've got an 11 speed on a Pro 4, with the little spacer ring fitted on the inside of the cassette.

Re: Lightweight petrol/multi fuel stove

This might not directly answer the question, but I just stumbled across this epic multi fuel stove round up:

http://thenextchallenge.org/liquid-multi-fuel-stoves/

Hopefully it contains some relevant info. It looks like hours of effort went into it.

Re: Peak based winter bivy (the week after the proper ones!)

Oooh, I'd missed this. I'm currently planning on doing the northern one the weekend before, but the Peak District is virtually on my doorstep so it'd be rude not to do both…

Re: When you're not sure if it's a spoof....

They (Pannier) may be Londoners but have had the good sense to move to Sheffield I believe. Indeed. Stefan (who runs Pannier) spends a lot of time riding in the Peak District. I met him last year at a (fantastic) weekend event he organised just outside of Hathersage, involving camping, riding, talk...

Re: The opposite of everything we strive for......

Nope, it just downloads an "image": "IMG_20160731_132224148.webp", which I can't open. Ah, that explains it. WebP is an image file format developed by Google, that's only supported by Chrome and Opera at the moment. I hadn't realised these weren't JPEGs. Perhaps @Trail-rat uploa...

Re: montane minimus mitts.

Pogies in my jones bars are fine. Cheers Ben. I believe that there are Jones specific styles available but not sure who makes them. I went googling. There's some Jones related chat in the comments on here: http://bikepacker.com/pogies/ And Revelate seem to have over done it, though I bet they work ...

Re: montane minimus mitts.

Has anybody tried pogies on a Jones bar? I'm wondering if they'd work well with the 45 degree sweep. I'll need to sort something out if I'm doing the winter bivvy. The Tuff Bag mitts look great, but I'm thinking I'd have better control of brakes and gears with full fingered gloves. Or am I over thin...

Re: Iceland trip.

Very interesting, cheers. I'd been thinking it was "the bigger the better" on the tyres front, so it's good to hear that 2" tyres would do the job. What about the grit wearing through your tyre though? That doesn't sound like it'd be particularly easy to avoid, regardless of what you'...

Re: WANTED: Salsa woodchipper bars

I've got a very lightly used (unmarked) pair of Woodchipper 2's that I've taken off a new bike, and was planning on putting them in the loft.

I haven't googled to see what they might be worth yet. Are you still looking?

Re: what gps system are you using and how do rate them...

I've only ever used my phone (with the Gaia GPS app for GPX files, and CycleStreets for road/sustrans route navigation prompts). My phone isn't waterproof, so it isn't ideal for UK bikepacking. I usually power it by leaving the screen off, in aeroplane mode, and recharging overnight from an external...

I see there's talk of two separate outings for the December bivvy. Is there a traditional location for the northern one, or does that need suggesting/organising/etc?

That was my first visit to Bearbones HQ, and I had a cracking weekend.
