May I suggest the reader draws inspiration from the monthly RegRides, documented herewithin?
It provides plenty of suggestions for riders of a more civilised persuasion

Re: Are you analogue?
I'm also a bit fed up of the increasing rise in sprocket numbers with a need to go to electronic shifting to make 12 speed work. Hence use of one sprocket! 3x7 (22/32/42 & 11-32 on 26" wheels) gives me all the range I need. Any lower and I'd be too slow to stay upright  . Just gone b...

Perfection comes from removing complexity, etc. "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing left to add but when there is nothing left to take away" - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Going *slightly* off-tangent - the recommended service interval of many suspension forks and shocks wouldn...

I am also on the look out for a Series III Land Rover to embrace a more simple way of motoring (simple means sh1t and unreliable, but with soul) Analogue Land Rovers are currently very overpriced and, as you say, corroded and unreliable  . If you're looking for some minimalist, classic British...

Re: Are you analogue?
Given my age (32) and my job (web development) I would say I am unusually ‘analogue’. He says, typing this on his phone and wearing a smartwatch. I think peak analogue/manual was intentionally buying a second hand push mower and having to take it apart and sharpen the blade, instead of an electric ...

Re: Todays ride
Well, this weekend's really. My stepson's first cycle/camp/bivi/motorsport trip and most definitely not the sort of things he learned on DofE Gold  . Friday : train to Penrith; cycle to Keswick for lunch, then ride to Borrowdale YHA to camp. £10 per person camping: £12 for 2 pints of beer (wha...

Still, Stu's probably laughing his head off 'cos it's probably nowt to do with our power grid  . Indeed...my money's on politics, landed gentry, the disenfranchised underclass, a distinct lack of energy supply, or quite simply tussocks so huge you wish you had more power to overcome them :wi...

Same route as yesterday, but with more sunshine .
Riding along Bulbarrow ridge gave me a lovely view of several small cloud inversions across Blackmore Vale .
Back to Beds today to prepare for "Storm Reg" on Thursday

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.
It's nights like this that remind my why bivvy bags are not for me. I Well done for making the effort :-bd . Bivis can be a bit of a chore sometimes. I've found the simple stuff like getting the stove on and a tot of Bailey's in the coffee, instead of milk, usually perks me up for the ride home in ...

Good stuff :-bd . When it comes to shelter, think like a tramp. Leave the tent at home and use whatever shelter you can find that's provided by nature or man-made (possibly by recce-ing during a previous ride  ). Such as: beneath the canopy of dense fir trees; under a cricket pavilion porch; b...

Blimey Lu, sounds epic. Glad you're back safe and sound.
Keep losing your glasses as often as you do and eventually you'll start finding them again.

Re: Ford Fiesta, River Crossings, Etc...
I was sure the UCI had standards for fording, proscribed in the grovelly bike bit of their ever evolving regs, so I checked, and indeed they do. When fording, to oount as a ford and therefore grant UCI Ford Points in an affiliated race,, the ford must be 5cm above the rim of a 700c bicycling device...
