Re: Cold feet thread
Make sure your feet are dry then give them a good rub before putting them in something like these. https://rab.equipment/uk/media/catalog/product/cache/5cc87aa3653b55e24e284d06f971ad2c/h/o/hot_socks_black_qed_18_bl_large.jpg Montane do a similar warm sock/Bothy-creeper too. Have kept my feet’s warm...

I use a similar system but I am a cold sleeper. Bobs setup would be good down to 0 for me. My 4season setup would need to be warmer than that.whitestone wrote:I'm fine to -6C in it. Good point. Although being small enough to allow the down to loft inwards works tooBearbonesnorm wrote:Just make sure that the outer bag is big enough to fit over the inner without compressing the insulation in either.

Yes bag and bag or quilt can work nicely. It’s my go-to winter system.

Very broadly speaking your max hr would be in the region of 220 minus your age. Your max sustainable he about 60-80% of that. I think the important part you picked out was your perceived level of effort was low. From the info you give I don't think you've got any particular worries unless your hear...

I’ve used those options too in tyndrum. If you are wanting something more out the way then By The Way campsite have let people leave cars etc there during the event. Used to be £10 for the duration.

As bob says earlier I have a hexamid. Mine is the long beak version with full net and a bathtub groundsheet. I’ve used it all year round in conditions from still summer midge-a-geddon through to wind driven snow. And rain. Plenty of rain. I’ve had several tarps, shelters, tents etc and this is by fa...

Urgh. Life behind bars is something I’d avoid saying or using after reading Ayesha McGowans blog on this phrase.
Tbf it wasn’t something I’d thought of before that read.

For some reason I only just saw this.
What a great idea
I’ve just made one out of some aluminium jewellery wire.
I weighed it on my digital scales. It weighed 0 grams!
I have a big reel of the wire if anyone would like a section.

Re: Suffer or endure when the going gets tough?
Its not suffering though is it? Suffering is when you have no choice, we don't suffer as we can stop for a brew / meal / pint when we feel like it. And riding a bike hard doesn't cause suffering, just a bit of leg pain and a bit of tiredness. It will end when you stop for a rest so really its a fai...
