Re: Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!
I only managed 3800km/2361miles last year between various health set backs with a longest distance of 67km which is very poor for me, but I struggled on. Thankfully drinking and smoking aren't an issue for me. Motivation isn't an issue either, I've made myself worse by pushing when I should be on th...

Cheers for the company guys :-bd Godivatrailrider good luck with your son, my son has managed to lose a fair bit since the summer and apparently is now at 12stone at 16yo, large frame like me. Nearly killed me for a while trying to go to the village gym with him as I'm just not so physically able at...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Looking like Friday night might be the date for me, but I'll not be doing 400km for it (what a start to the year  ) Thinking either a new coastal bird hide I've found, or a hammock in a nice looking spot in a local woods i came across. The woodlands being ace for some wildlife and bird watchin...

Fat Fighters '24. The year for deflation!
Ok, I'll start it off, though I'm embarrassed to make public the heaviest I have ever been. In my defense I've had a sub standard time of it mentally and physically, but feel like I'm coming round a bit with a second more reassuring opinion on my heart issue, and getting a new consultant for my wris...

Re: Fat Fighters '23
This has been a truly annis horriblis for me health wise with my heart (long story, but slightly better news), and most recently finally succumbed to covid which has laid me low for the best part of a month so far, so I've been eating poor show and struggling to get anything done. Haven't been on he...

FFS.... Broken/cracked/bruised/mangled ribs here from a front wheel wash out on a steep lose decent on Friday on the Fungle Road above Tarfside  Other bits are quite achy too... I do hope to get a BaM in for June even if I missed May due to my foot issue. The bruising from that has just begun t...

 May won't be completed for me  Ironically while sorting the bike out yesterday afternoon I stood on some fucking sharp stone in my flip flops and the ball off my foot between my big and first toe feels like there a lump there and it's bloody painful. This morning the front of my foot arou...

Great seeing everyone's May BaM
I'll be out tonight to a new location that I think will be pretty cool in the hammock. Bug net fitted now as I'm a total midge magnet and they're definitely nibbling.

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.
Well I wasn't up to camping last night, but I did feel up to a ride out 20km to an interesting patch of woods north of Little Brechin in Angus this afty and found what looks like an ace hammock spot. So fingers crossed I can get my BaM in next Tuesday or Wednesday night when I'm back home.

Re: Fat Fighters '23
I'm AWOL until next Friday. Had in-laws here for a week and now a pal down from Shetland for some riding, so it's been cafe life and meals out and will be for the next few days. I expect tears next weigh-in, but the good news is that for all I've been enjoying the cafes/meals I've not been binging, ...

Re: E-bikes - Bad for your health
As someone new to being an 'ebiker' as it's good for my health I'm not overly concerned. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd expect number of issues to rise as they become more common regardless of whether they're posh £4/5/6/8k bikes, or cheaper ones, or conversions. Lots of things catch fire everyday in the ...

Re: Sleep system for the side sleepers
I often sleep in, or have my down jacket over my top half, with just the half open sleeping bag over my chest down. Can't stand having my arms confined
Now I have a quilt I usually have that up to my arm pits with down jacket either on or draped over my top.

I'm thinking of being a bivy purist next time assuming decent forecast. My biggest bivy is a hunka XL but my exped mat, me and quilt are a bit tight for it so I'll need atleast some tarp under the exped mat on the outside.
