Just picked up your thread. It's a great idea. I've had a notion for quite a while to ride the route of the 1963 Tour when I retire. Just inspired me to do some research. In case anyone wonders, I was born in 1963.
Have a great trip. Will follow with interest.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2017.
Just realised I've not claimed April, I cycled part of the Capital trail from Edinburgh to Pebbles with an overnight stop just outside Melrose. Planning on a proper write up on my blog when I can find some spare time! Also spent a lovely evening in Burly whag bothy with Gill at the start of the mon...

Re: Todays ride
Actually yesterday's ride. Family camping trip to Glenmore. Fabulous weather for ride with Fraser (9) up to Ryvoan then round Loch Morlich, Loch an Eilan to Inverdruie. Finished off with following the Old Logging Road back to the campsite. Magic.

Re: Todays ride
Spent a couple of hours trundling round the Commonwealth Games course at Cathkin Braes. Have now discovered my own mortality as my son rode up a steep hill and I couldn't (twice).

Following the comments with interest. Was planning a wee overnighter to Brattleburn from Moffat. Suddenly it doesn't sound too appealing.

Re: Highland Trail 550 - the book
I'm going to have to send mine back Ian. Someone has been scribbling inside the front cover. Has Craigie had her crayons out Colin? Shh. My 9 year old son thinks Lee has just written to him. Had a flick through the book and it looks great. A lot of positive comments from my fb friends who got a cop...

Re: 1000 miles in France
Thanks for posting Bridget. Really enjoyed your report. I will let my 9 year old son see it later. Have let him see the Tom & Rich reports in the past. Now I can add you and Joe to the list. He's keen to do some tours so you're report will hopefully inspire him. Great to see Joe smiling in the p...

Sorry Blair but I can't do the 25th. Junior has round 1 of SXC MTB the next day.
Hopefully we can catch up some other time.

2 laps of Commonwealth Games trails at Cathkin Braes with my 9 year old son Fraser. A beautiful, cold and sunny day to be out. Quite a few patches of ice on the trails. Fraser was trying out his new mountain bike, his big Christmas present from Santa.

Re: 2017 plans
Very modest/embarrassing plans. Personally, to get a new mountain bike then fit in some trips in to pick off Munros. The remaining ones are more remote so will be overnighters on the bike. The #Jennride looks really appealing. n As a dad, my 9 year old is desperate to do more trips so thinking about...

Hi guys and gals I can confirm you will be doing Garburn at the end on the 100 so down the bit you walked up! As for a nine year old doing the route  The route is basically the same apart from the Garburn bit and you will not be riding back up Jenkins Cragg you will follow the route out of A...

Re: South lakes Jennride
I'm new to bikepacking scene so forgive the question. I like the look of the route and I'm keen on the 100 miler . Looking at previous posts, it seems you can follow as much or as little of the route as you see fit. If I'm right, my 9 year old will be keen to come along. Can anyone confirm if I'm r...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2016.
Hi there. my first post on this thread. Did my first bike, hike and bivvy with my 8 year old son Fraser. Pedalled from Dalwhinnie up to the high point of the estate track on the Fara. Hiked a bit higher and camped on a flat shoulder. Continued to the top the next morning. Came back down, packed up a...
