Re: Ridgeway bivi spot

We stopped at the Village Inn in Liddington, put a bit of money through the tills with rehydration and a feed, they kindly let us set up in the beer garden and then served us breakfast :)

Army Gortex bivy bag, use sans tarp?

Have just received my Army surplus bivy, this thing is huge! Laid out flat it's about 8ft long and I'm thinking that as i can get mat and bag all the way inside, the longer side used above would make a decent rain canopy (my initila impression was to look at it like a bag with the longer side down) ...

I have 4 weeks so time is in my favour if i act now, just need a bivvy bag to go with.

jumped on a £13 Roswheel 8l seay pack for the lad yesterday, it's likely to get used no more than twice so doesn't need round the world robustness.

Having kitted myself out for last year's TNR with a bunch of Alpamayo bags and a weight/cost compromise go outdoors coffin tent, Decathlon sleeping mat and a 1/2 season bag, I have all the kit I reasonably need. But...I'm a cruel parent and am dragging the 15 year old (who is actually quite keen) fo...

Exiting the Rat Race!

I'm looking at fecking of on me bike around the planet, on a minimal budget. Got a few years to plan it as jr is 15 and still partially reliant on me (lives with womb parent) and has been invited to come if he likes. I missed the opportunity to go see the world when young because I never had money, ...

We have a plan re. CTC bags.

Going to post spare clothes, trainers etc in a CTC bag post restante to the main post office in Nice, they hold mail for a fortnight for us to collect.

Can confirm the reflective hi-vis requirement having been through various discussions with guys riding the Transcontinental. Also worth noting that two abreast is only permitted in daylight hours too.
