Re: what weight of material for frame bag
I tested the sewing machine out using 2 layers of leather with some thick strong nylon thread and it managed okay, so I would imagine 3/4 layers of synthetic material and nylon thread would be okay as they'll pass through each other easier then grippy leather..... well thats the logic  :???: :...

Re: what weight of material for frame bag
Cheers for the advice HaYWiRe,
under the influence of wine, I ordered some 500d cordura off ebay last night, so we'll see how I get on.
This will be my first sewing project, so possible just made it harder, but we all start somewhere

Re: what weight of material for frame bag
cheers for the info HayWiRe, considering my lardy arse saving a few grams on a bag isn't really relevant. so weight not an issue for comparison would a rucksack or the fabric motorbike jackets you get, would they be made with 500d Cordura, just trying to get a feel for the weights and what they comp...

what weight of material for frame bag
Folks,
Looking to make a frame bag for the ECR, but unsure what weight of material to use, I'm planning on something like a cordura fabric, but bewildered by the various choices.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
cheers Roddy

Re: Reproofing Goretex jackets
How many jackets do you guys proof at the same time? Just the one, tried more than one garment at a time and adjusting the quantity of proofing required but got mixed results Also, does anyone bother washing by hand in the bath or a big bucket, rather than have to get all the previous washing deter...

Re: Reproofing Goretex jackets
I've done all 3, machine wash, hand wash and sprayed directly on to fabric, all worked equally well. But i did make sure the jacket was properly clean before doing any of the suggested techniques. the left the jacket to hang dry after the proofing agent was added Washing used a good old fashioned so...

Show me your Kanga set ups with Jones bars
Folks, Just got a Kanga thingy for the ECR, and did a test fit, but the thing slides along the length of the (outer/ extra ?) bar, whats a neat solution to stop it doing this. I thought about adding extra straps to go round join in the bar keeping the Kanga stable, but I sometimes use this space as ...

Same as scotroutes I find using this technique really helps if your following forestry tracks since they can change frequently from what was on map in the first place.
But it works best if your following a route and direction up
