Anyone else use the £1/gram weight saving threshold?
For example, I have a perfectly functional Integral Siltarp weighing 240g.
A Zpacks cuben tarp weighs 75g, which would save me 165g. It costs £125. Therefore £125/165g = £0.76/g. This is under my £1 limit, so its OK to buy it :)

Re: Anybody fancy lending me a revelate seat bag? Blame Wild
I promise I'll buy a Tiger Seat system as soon as you get you get them going I'm glad, seeing as we named it after you ;) I'm also quite excited about the Lioness - time has allowed me to think through various options and rather than "design" a bag with some straps on it, it'll actually b...

Re: How concerned are you about weight?
I don't necessarily have the lightest of everything in my kit list, though things have generally been selected on the basis of a offering the maximum in performance for the minimum in weight. Subsequently though, I've become increasingly aware of packed volume/ compressability as much as weight, as ...

mKettle Review
I have an mKettle on trial at the moment, courtesy of Stuart (thanks). I took it out on a bivi a couple of weeks ago and have had a play with it since in the garden. The real world test went like this: I'd planned to bivi in a suitably exposed spot with a great view but not much in the way of fuel -...

Re: Anybody fancy lending me a revelate seat bag? Blame Wild
I want a Wildcat seat bag but it seems Ian hasn't got this off the ground yet And you'll be the first to get one when they are available, Matt :) Seriously, there's a stack of stuff to do at the moment and with frame bag and Mountain Lion orders to process there's a shortage of time for development...

excuse my hillbilly tendencies Don't worry Stu, I went into a petrol station far out in the wild west of Pembrokeshire to buy some lunch. Converation went like this: me (browsing the sandwiches behind the glass display counter): "Can I have a BLT sandwich please?" two ladies behind counte...

Ah, well you're on to something there - that's what makes the mKettle quite good. Not so much dual use, as not requiring you take something at all that you would with any other stove: fuel

I think Stu meant things you can use for different jobs while out in the wild. Unless, you make your meths stoves as you go along and through them away after each usedrinks can = meths stove

Re: What constitutes a 'long' ride?
I did all the trails at Afan in one go once in just over 6 hours. That was a long ride, all things considered. The WRT was a long ride for me in terms of duration - something like 11 hours on the bike on Sunday. Comparing the two, I think I was probably more tired from the Afan effort. I've been out...

Re: WRT in XXC Mag.
Haven't read the article yet, but it's cool you can view it online for nothing.
The pic of Paul on the first page is good. Think Aidan and I rode that on our run back to the finish on Sunday.
Bridleway at roughly SH 867006?

Re: Big rides or ....
Serious comment now - after hauling my ass around the WRT after Aidan, I'm much of the opinion that time on the bike is the most valuable thing you can do for all the reasons that Paul and Stu state above. I've not touched a turbo in years, and don't see how it would add to my fitness edge if I took...

Re: Condensation and bivvy bags?
Was out last under just a tarp - got a bit of condensation/dew at the end of the sleeping bag (no bivi bag). Think it was just a problem with a short mat and improvised camelbak/ shoes laid at the foot end. Starting to see the merits of a full length mat over the lighter shorter versions. http://twi...

Re: Tubeless or Tubes
I've been tubeless for about the last 4 years. No problems at all really. Can only recall one incident with a torn sidewall that the latex didn't fix. Got a photo somewhere of a tyre I took off when it was worn out and it had 8 thorns in it. Never any loss of pressure while riding, so didn't know th...

Also like the look of the new Maxxis Ikon, which Aidan is currently using on the front of his bike on the TD. Bit pricey though. http://www.justridingalong.com//shop.php?product=8334
