Re: Bikepacking race tips from a pro...

I'm sure his name is out there on the interwebs somewhere, but we still laugh at the bloke who attempted to beat (at the time) Paul Teirney's record for running the Wainwrights, and was fuelling this on protein cookies alone. If I recall correctly, he lost his waterproofs in a gale and called it off...

Not nothing: We got ~400 metres of pavement through the village in exchange for the local wind farm.

Re: Proposed Wind Farm near Glaslyn

I'm a bit of a wind farm enthusiast, taking in our two local ones—stuck between the Lakes and the Dales—regularly on rides, but understand they're divisive. I also think we're kinda lucky in that they're small farms of only 5 and 6 turbines respectively so perhaps not as overwhelming to the landscap...

My almost 80 y/o mother gets annoyed with herself if she's in the shower long enough for the hot water to reach the showerhead. I've no idea if this makes her quicker on her omafiets, mind.

Shaff, a blatant plug for a book 'Mrs Hyppy' commissioned/published but this may be of interest: https://www.adventurebooks.com/products/the-cold-fix (Also on AMZ obv. but better for all concerned, save for Bezos, buying direct!)

They always seem to have some sale on but particularly good savings on socks, including waterproof (£13) and merino (from £5), at Banana Industries at the mo.

Re: Anyone own one of these stove/pot setups!?

The less fancy solid fuel ones always seemed quite slow to heat baked beans, which is all I remember using them for, when we used them as scouts like 40 or so years back, but things may have moved on since then.

Alpine Trek seem to stock quite a range of them at some decent prices.

Depends whether 'friendly' includes giving the examination too? If not, then the Spur Saddle may trump it.

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Got around to trying to sort out the side wall puncture picked up as I hit the road ~3km from the end of last weekend's Jennride and nursed back to the Mill Yard from there It's an annoying one as there's no real obvious hole there but it just won't seal. It's at the top of the / between 622 and 29....

There are a couple of open access areas on the Island where rights of way go past the boundaries but there is no way (that I have found) in to them There are a few areas like that round here. I had a run in, albeit a very civil one, with a farmer a little while back when I had parked on a track at ...

We'll see - the entry questionnaire still required you to have an instagram account, even though it doesn't get used for tracking. So I just put a gobbildigook name in and I think I got some of the questions wrong... That's a hard no from me then. Shouldn't have to tell someone why they shouldn't b...

Just noticed where you are Faustus. I lived down that way until a handful of years back and would have recommended T4 Cameras in Newbury, the now-closed odd 50/50 Camera/Whisky shop. I bought (and exchanged) a few bodies and lenses from them, and they still have branches in Swindon and Witney too, b...

Re: Recommend me a decent stills camera

No specific recommendations, but I've found it very hard to adapt to using any camera other than a Canon DLSR, as that's what I used for years when I took it up seriously again (ie. went I finally went digital having done film photography back in the day). I've tried Fuji compacts and have a Panason...

I am considering changing.over to tubeless and had a query regarding my rims which are WTB ST I23 TCS tubeless ready.
