FS Shimano Alfine Hub Gear + Shifters 8 Speed
Just having a bit of a clearout of the basement and theres I originally built up for commuting, until I realised that was a daft idea.
Its currently built into a wheel, but happy to sell on complete wheel or hub only, plus all of the bolts, spacers and flat bar shifter.

Made up numbers but you get the idea. Yeah, certainly and I think I’m on the same page as you Andy. My point was more that the risks doesn’t really change at midnight on the 3rd of July. It’s more a case of looking at the risks and going from there, rather than trying to find a proxy to say it’s ok...

This is where I’ve always gone for a 2 jacket approach (like Neil) One “summer” jacket that is more occasion use. One that packs small, and will keep the worst of it off for an hour or so Then another “winter” jacket for when you know it’s going to rain for most of the day. Not fussed about pack siz...

Re: When?????
To me, lockdown has ended. If we can go on holiday next week, go to the pub, queue up outside our favourite clothes shop etc etc what’s the point anymore The reality is this virus isn’t going to go away anytime in the next 12 months (paraphrasing Chris Whitty) There’s a certain amount of just havin...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Not sure I understand the second point - how else would you enter a tile? Think Pete means from one you've visited in a prior trip. I have a similar (self imposed) rule. Kinda links into you cant just drive somewhere and walk about for 5 mins to get a tile. Unless its an event/ride that someone els...

Brilliant
Shows the most important piece of kit is enthusiasm.
Reminds me of a certain Mr Barter. Just less swearing, and more pouting

Didn't we do this one a couple of years ago or something Chew? Why I think we did old bean <taps out pipe>, seems like noggin is going the same way as the old ticker... Cheers James, it was you tweet earlier that spared the interest, and think I may have found one in my size as a reasonable price. ...

Wanting something a bit more casual to ride around in.
Any particular shirts to be looking at?
Something that works with pipe would be a bonus

Re: Budget Bags
Often budget isn’t the right way to go, as it can often be be the case of buy cheap, buy twice. Most people will go with some kind of exped, cumulus combo. Not too expensive up front, and if we’ve all come to that conclusion there must be something in in :-bd Also, if after a year, if you don’t like...

These days it almost feels like being a martyr if you still stick to the rules Its this Reg A few of us went out on Saturday night, in the same way as Northwind says. A few miles from the house, a few socially distanced beers watching the sun go down generally talking nonsense. I'm sure some people...

Re: Does this 'other track' look rideable (near Ripponden)
It’s nowhere near Ripponden  As the others have said, the ride across the drain from Midgley Moor to the res is quite pleasant, which may not get the square you’re after. The farms up in Castle Carr aren’t particularly welcoming, and lots of barbed wire and private land signs. There’s the dou...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
I assume it’s cheating if your rides don’t start from home? As Pete says, it’s a bit of a self imposed rule. Once you get past 20x20 it becomes difficult and burdensome to do, so I’ve relaxed that one. If I do drive somewhere for a walk/cycle, I’ve always made sure it’s an activity of sufficient du...

One would just hope that people would have better things to do than look down their noses at other people.ScotRoutes wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 3:34 pmWhat's the problem here? Isn't it just varying degrees of piss-taking?
Unfortunately, most of that is driven by insecurity.

You need to be part of the “ride every tile” Strava group, and for the rides to be public.ScotRoutes wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 3:05 pm I dunno what data that is based on but I can confirm it is incorrect.

Painting an Aluminium Frame
Some paint has flaked away on my winter road bike.
Aware that the road salt will just eat the aluminium come winter.
Any special paint or preparation needed to protect it from the elements?
(Doesn’t need to be pretty, it’s generally ridden to the pub in winter and sits out in the rain)

I'm too getting totally sick of these $*!tt* standards they keep trying to sell us They only keep trying to sell them, because people keep buying them  I've (generally) only bought frames that work to old school standards. Threaded BB's, old fashioned hub spacing and 1,1/8 steerers, IS brake ...

This is what I was going to suggest. Also worth checking the tyre is seated properly/isn't damaged etc
The rim may be fine, it could be the tyre (or just flex in the frame if you’re running it close)
