Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

June's BaM was another local one after realising without doing a school night my other opportunity's were zero. So it was last Friday I rode up Winter Hill with as little as possible, arriving just before sunset. Set up the bag on the very comfortable heathland using a drystone wall as a windbreak a...

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Another Jennride BaM here for May entry. Best weekend I've had for a while. Rocked up Friday straight from work and parked up next to Raggedstone?(Kevin) ..was his t-shirt that broke the ice :-bd Beer and pizza was the general plan but when TON is in the beer tent, things flow a little faster! Wotsit...

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

April's BaM plan for me was Dales Divide but that went tits up and I scratched early evening on the Friday. Head reset needed I did another ride from the back door last weekend. Rough plan was to head over a few Moors in the general direction of the Mary Townley Loop then see how the time was tickin...

Yep Lazarus,correct cricket club :-bd
Conditions definitely helped keep things people free..some guy walked passed out of the trees about 11pm with no torch which was strange but probably he was thinking the same if he saw me in the body bag

I'm turning up Tony, be good for a catch up. Don't think I've bumped into you since YD300 when you were doing the YD200 Road ride.

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

March BaM ticked off Saturday just gone. Weather wasn't playing and got the Lurgy last week so probably wasn't the smartest move setting off just before 8pm into heavy rain. Armed with just the bivvy bag and mat the aim was a covered cricket club porch but changed my mind halfway with no improvement...

Middlebrook trail towards Bolton through Lostock is great for avoiding the main veins of the A6 & Chorley New Rd.

Re: An interesting read...

I'm definitely in the Jones camp now..always wanted one and been using the h bar for years on various bikes. My brother has a real knack of finding bikes on fleebay and he got hold of a steel diamond [older) 29er with Ti truss which rode lovely but ultimately the lack of ability to fit big tyres saw...

Re: Tent and sleeping bag recommendations

I've used my Lanshan 1 twice now,it replaced a coffin style OEX which I just couldn't cope with anymore. It's got a inner mesh tent so I've not had issues with condensation but it is heavier than the single skin pro version. You need a pole..Stu sorted that for me and I've added different pegs and a...

Re: Which freeze dry meals would you recommend?

Real Turmat are the best I've tried so far..only had the vegan and veggie options tho. Recently been trying the firepot vegan and veggie meals..not bad especially the posh baked beans for breakfast. Big fan of overnight oats but normally eat this about 10am( brew time on site) find I struggle with a...

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Well that's my BaM cherry popped. Riding conditions locally have been bobbins all week resulting in zero biking action so the plan was a ride out to the coast using as many back lanes/tracks as possible and still getting the miles in. Made decent progress thanks to a nice tailwind and landed at my b...

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Never slept up Great hill but have thought about it for BaM. Kipped in tockholes on the 28th Dec mainly for some testing with a new quilt but also because my 15yr old daughter was having a sleep over and she now actually asks if I can vacate the house..glad I did as the 5 girls were up until 5.30am!...
