Re: Seat Pack advice please
I haven't tightened the straps properly, so can go a bit tighter to the seat post. Another option maybe the topeak backloader in 7 litre https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/beC5RA2Kv59JHOTwl6jZdskUXIYll_VB2iUANnyxQH2ssl3qFa8FJXjwYaTb_SyPKCc-9MG2caZ58rkezSI2BJoWPTuQ1ScYYDcsH1Tcm9o7ZsMtHjOFQ244rarLfB4rF...

Re: Seat Pack advice please
Altura do a 6 litre seat pack that might fit. I use it for commuting, though I have lot more saddle to wheel drop. I'll pop it onto my bike with it full tonight and take some measurement photos

Re: Long-term packing?
I spend a good few weeks working through my packing list and kit configuration before a trip. And then go for several test rides- it's always fun doing an extended commute home on a loaded bike.

Re: Cargo trailer info required
I've seen the BOB yak trailers. Look good but on the pricey side for my budget and not many coming up 2nd hand, and if they are, they're the 26" version and i'd then have to fork out for the larger yoke to fit 27.5+. Some goods deals on the Topeak journey trailer at the mo. But again would nee...

Ha! I actually stopped there yesterday for lunch! Didn't need to top up though as I found an outside tap on a parish hall just a couple of miles before.

For those who have ridden the West Country Way...
Another question for those who have ridden the West Country Way over Dartmoor and Exmoor, what are water refill points like? With another heatwave upon us, I'm wondering if I have enough water carrying capacity. I have a 3 litre apidura hydration bladder in my frame bag and another 750ml bottle that...

Re: Pubs off tarmac
The easiest way to reach Beese's I'm Brislington (Bristol) is via boat. There apparently is a road that connects to its track, but I've only ever taken the "ferry" (row boat) over from the other side of the river (canal maybe, not sure).

Re: Advice sought building a gravel bike.
I'm running a 46/30 with an 11-42 cassette and deore 5120 rear derailleur in the back, with 105 shifters on my gravel bike. I needed to put a jtek shiftmate on there as well to change the cable pull ratio to work with the mtb rear mech. But it shifts brilliantly, I have a huge range (19 to 115 hear ...

Adders- Dartmoor and Exmoor
Right, adders, the UK's only venomous snake. I have a fear of snakes. How prevalent are they on Dartmoor and Exmoor? Any precautions I should take?

Also, the reason for an extra pair of bibs and jersey is usually meet my wife for a few days r&r post trip. Amd I have been told that I(and this is a direct quote) "better not smell as bad as last time". So fresh clothes should help with that.

Re: How best to pack...
Thanks for the viewpoints all. As I said, I may be short, but I do not struggle with available seatpost and can easily fit a 15 litre saddlebag, which helps a bit. But it's everywhere else where space is in issue. I've been home from work with covid for the past few days, so I've been playing around...

West Country Way- well mostly
I'm cycling most of the West Country Way starting on the 12th of August with an 05:40 train down to Plymouth from Bristol. The plan is 4 days/3 nights, and instead of heading to Minehead turning towards Ilfracombe (meeting my wife and son). There is a train station in Barnstaple for any onward trave...

I'm a shorter rider- 5'2", 46cm bike (Orro Terra C), and I'm just wondering if there is a better way to pack. My bags are the following: 5 litre altura vortex handlebar bag, 4ish litre (I think) custom full frame bag, 15 litre topeak backloader (I have the luxury of a 31" inseam so have a ...

Re: The post man's been ...
The postman delivered and apidura frame bag hydration bladder and a pair of endura mountain bike shorts. Unfortunately, both have been delivered to work and I'm off with covid. The hydration bladder was expensive for what it is, but it should enable me to use the space in my frame bag more efficient...

Best way to pack down a sleeping bag?
I have a 3 season sleeping bag that I've had for many, many years. It's still in like new condition as it's only been used a handful of times in the past 15 years or so. It's synthetic filled. I tried packing it down as tightly as I could as I want to take it on my next trip. However, it still takes...

FS: Altura Vortex 12 litre saddle bag
I'm selling my 12 litre Altura Vortex saddle bag. I've used it for bikepacking for the past few years, but have now bought a slightly larger saddlebag. Excellent condition and fully waterproof. Great bag for 1-3 day trips. Also really good if you have an XS or Small bike £15 posted, £12 if collected...
