A Trossachs Overnighter

Over most of this year, I've headed home to Scotland quite a few times but sadly never managed to get a trip out. Finally, this time I’d leave Callander and head out in the evening and camp out either at Loch Venechar or Loch Drunkie, spend a day cycling around a loop through Aberfoyle, pick up the ...

Re: Today's Run

At a spot on my usual running route I've met a youngish deer a couple of times. It's never seemed too concerned at me and the dog passing but does try to hide and blend in. Yesterday, I ran past two of the little Guys. I wasn't paying attention and only saw them as I got to about 15-20m away. They k...

...with a few bits for my next trip. Ultralight Javadrip for coffee, Nalgene soft water bottle to save getting up and out the tent during the night for a pee (wide mouth, of course...don't mean to boast ), and Nikwax cleaner and waterproofer for jacket/shorts etc....I'm expecting rain.

No, it wasn't bad when it settled down and I finished riding with a nipping head. The problem, I think, was I was going soooo fast that the little Guy was stuck fast with the G force.

Re: Todays ride

Rare commute back from the office and was smacked right between the eyes by a wasp or a bee. It stuck to my face as I waving around trying to get it off. Managed to get it off but not before it gave me a little sting. 20 mjns later I had to skid to a stop as another one got caught in my helmet. No s...

2nd hand Element Bolt bought cheap off fleabay. Didn't come with a mount, so not as big a bargain as I thought. Still cheap enough to be worth a go.

Yep, all very true. I didn't weigh myself this week cos I was pushed to get somewhere on time. I think I'd have put on weight though. My aim this week is to cut out bread during the week, along with trying to limit snacking. We'll see how it goes.

That's got to give you a little boost, even if you've had to go through it to get there. Brill :-bd Shaf - yes, I think it's keeping me honest. Tbh, I haven't got the same commitment as I did when I first started but I'm trying to keep it going, keep trying and slowly get there. It is slightly weari...

Finally managed to get my arse into gear and get out. I read Rockbus's post about faffing about and understood completely. I mean, sometimes, there are genuine reasons and this year, much like last year, there have been genuine reasons. All the same, though, I need to put in a bit of effort to get s...

Re: Which 2nd hand bike computer?

Thanks very much for all the replies and suggestions. Certainly have helped explain the options. I'll do a bit of reading on whether to go bike specific or not and then start seriously looking. I'd like to get it sorted for a trip around Trossachs at the end of Sept. Cheers again.

Re: Lachlan Morton on the great divide

At the other end of the scale is Mat Ryder's films of his attempt that have been getting released over the last few weeks. Maybe cos he's a pretty normal guy, doing fairly normal distances and is a little more relatable to me than some of these other guys. I did like Joe Nation's too though. Lachlan...

Yes, that's the one. Just found that Back Country are selling them. I'd thought, from searching previously, that they weren't readily available in the UK. In absence of one being available here, I'll head over there are purchase new. Admittedly being lame by being picky on colour. :geek:

Re: Which 2nd hand bike computer?

Yes, for navigation. Want to be able to put on routes to be able to follow easier than on the phone. Not concerned with avge speed etc but knowing distances travelled would be of help. I know others do use a phone and I have used a second phone to add routes to but this was without data and was a bi...

Which 2nd hand bike computer?

Hello Folks, I'm looking to buy my first bike computer but could do with advice on which would be best to go for and which one's are best to avoid. Budget-wise, I'm thinking £100...sound reasonable for a used bit of kit? I guess battery life, usability and reliability are the main considerations. An...

Re: What are you listening to now?

They've re-done the film too and that's getting screened in Sept, I think. Just brilliant. The vinyl has added songs ie Tom Tom Club etc. All they need now is to sort themselves out, get a few gigs together, make $$$ and the rest of us can enjoy it live. All too many bands reform and make a shot-sho...

Great choice. Can't go wrong with them. Looks good too. I had a friend who put a small blue led directed towards the clear platter. Looked great in the dimmer lighting. My Daughter is also a Swifty and has all her releases on vinyl. Looks like she's caught the bug and is now moving into less poppy m...
