Re: Suggest some 29er rims
I don’t profess to knowing lots about rims but when I did some research before getting my dyno wheel built up, Kinlins seemed to be well thought of and offered a good compromise of weight, reliability and price. I’ve am certainly pleased with my choice 😀 FYI 2 weeks before I left for my attempt at t...

Re: Anyone any long distance exp of these Selle Italia Gelflow saddles
If you want a padded comfy saddle I’d highly recommend this: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/saddles/terry-fisio-gel-max-comfort-mens-saddle-black/ Had a version of this (Ti rails/leather cover) on my bike when I rode in Central Asia. No arse trouble at all over nearly a year of riding. I’m wondering w...

Aircraft hand luggage: Dyno light and USB box ok?
Just wondering if my dynamo K light and USB box will be fine in my hand luggage? Think they might have gone with the bike in the hold before but would prefer to have them with me this time in the cabin. Just wondering if the USB box/gizmo might cause alarm and issues with the scanner etc? Someone un...

Hub recommendations?
choice recommendations? I might be getting a new rear wheel built up and although I’ve only had SRAM on my MTBs to date, any good recommendations for hubs? Not sure what the pros and cons are of SRAM, Shimano HD or microspline. I’m being told Shimano do good value hubs with cup and cone bearings. If...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Well after lots of attempts to locate a very small puncture hole in my Exped sleep mat, I finally found it today 😀 My attempts included in the bath, at the swimming pool 😂 soapy spray etc all to no avail. Finally found it whilst having another go pushing it under water in the bath. Never saw any bub...

Love this advice, are there any decent YouTube stretching videos anyone can recommend? I found the free Jessica Valant Pilates on YouTube very good although I now do actual Pilates classes at my gym. Anyone for Kenya? Approx 18/9 for a few weeks
I am going to be out in Kenya in Sept and am very keen to cycle the Kenya Bike Odyssey route which will be one great big adventure :-) Whilst I am generally happy cycling on my own and did a solo 4+ week trip last year on in Spain, my family are not keen on me riding this particular route on my own ...

Re: Helmet lights!
Interestingly at my club some are quite happy riding chinese front bar lights (incl. me) but when it comes to helmet lights, everyone has exposures. Until last week I was using a joystick mk7 400 lumen light and that was fine. However, last week I tried out my Mk14 1050 lumen and that was lovely :-)...

1/2 price Specialized Propero 3 Mips helmet At Evans Cycles £55 In my opinion this is an excellent helmet esp if you want max air flow to cool you down. Thanks for sharing and this looks very promising. Anyone know how much it costs after the 1st year for the message add on? Re: Travel insurance for cycling
I bought a policy from
ABTA Travel Sure back in Oct.
From what I remember it covered mtb’ing up to 2500m. I don’t think it was necessarily the cheapest but it looked like it was fairly good cover. Like you, I was more interested in the health cover than the loss/theft personal effects etc

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
After 6 weeks of not doing much cycling due to a bit of tendonitis in the knee, today I've finally said " f#ck it, I'm going anyway" and booked my flight to Morocco in 10 days time. I've been thinking about this trip for months but haven't done much prep or research recentley as I couldn'...

Re: How to.... Take your bike on a plane
Good to read the various replies. My first time of flying with my bike was a few months ago when I had to get back from Spain. I liked the idea of a big bag over the bike but eventually ended up boxing it up. Fortunately Ryanair don't specify a max. box size, so I got the biggest box going from a Sp...

Plus shipping and (most likely) duty / vat and it starts to look like very expensive tube. + courier's handling fee (some peeps find that stings ) I would be very surprised if many folks order them when they can't even give you an estimate of what the total fees may be! Glad I've got my Jones...

Pretty sure in the past I've booked on Skyscanner then added my bike on the airline's website/app using the booking reference.
