Re: Living a meagre existence so you dont have to work ?
Ton - I hope you find peace with whatever decision you choose to make. Everyone else - Thankyou for the open and honest depictions of your own situations. I've just turned 30 and feel like I'm starting to hit my career "stride" having dicked about through much of my twenties. I've committe...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
Good luck. It's worth having a snack before bedtime too. That will give your body some energy to help stay warm. I prefer nuts, though something carby seems to be the general recommendation. If there's the risk of frost, I'd also recommend some latex gloves. I've gotten too many cold fingers packin...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
I'm hoping to go out this weekend. As others, I have done what I believe is an appropriate risk assessment and will be setting up camp less than 5 miles from home, and about 4 miles from any other living souls. I'm a bit nervous as by all accounts, this will be the coldest I've ever camped, but I su...

Re: Sidetracked Magazine Issue 20 Cover
Oh you bunch of crusty miserable old gets! (He said mostly with sarcasm) It's delightful to see pictures of "questionable" fashion choices some of you made over the years, I seem to be getting bolder the older I get and I thoroughly enjoy fashion forward pieces like this that empower me to...

Just about the best bike picture I think I've taken! A wee shakedown on the Kona Unit. She's a beast. Shlepping the bridleway from Littleborough to Hebden Bridge and back. https://i.imgur.com/QhHSfVh.jpeg Looks like a nice ride! What make is that bar bag you have there? Thanks! The barbag is by a w...

Re: Future plans.....??
I'm hoping, perhaps optimistically, to give the second city divide a crack over Easter. It will represent my first "proper" bikepacking trip following a short career of road cycle touring. I'd also like to get comfortable with the idea of bivvying this year, too. So whatever mini-adventure...

In absolute awe at some of your stories Greg. Thanks for the update! I was up at Stoodley Pike on the bike yesterday and Heard rumours of rescue being up there due to a twisted ankle or other some such, relatively minor, thing. As a resident of Littleborough and someone who often ventures (sensibly...

regardless of what you think of the amount of cogs, it's an absolutely luscious bit of kit in the flesh. Honestly, as with much of the campag gear, they have people by the heart not the head.

WTD: 650B rims
I've bought a new full squish second hand but the rims are "well loved". So it's a good excuse to finally teach myself the quiet art.
I'm looking for some sturdy 650b rims, tubeless, and a good contemporary internal width ideally. Anyone got anything fun?
Many Thanks!

Re: WTD Shimano 11 SPD Long Cage Mech
I have a well loved SLX rear you're welcome to. Plenty of life left in it, but I bought a new Deore mech to get me into 50t territory without bodges.

WTD: Heavy Duty 29er wheelset & Crankset
Hello! I have a Voodoo Bizango frame and fork in the shed which I'm never going to use and my Father in Law has expressed an interest in. I'm going to build it up as best I can but need the following bits to make it a full bike! Used, cheap, and heavy duty options preferred. - 29er wheelset. 15mm th...

I'm sorry to hear this Ton. I think for many people, at least those I've spoken to, this "whole pandemic thing", no matter your take on it, is seeming to be the emotional straw breaking the camels back. I think it's making people step back and realise that they have been operating at 100% ...

Re: Breakfast with a view.
I've breakfasted (heh) outside every day this week. But this morning was a special one as yesterday my new tarp got delivered. What better way to test these things out with minimal risk than a leisurely sausage butty on a hill in the Pennines? I've never so much as considered tying any type of knots...

It has come to my attention that I have a load of decent quality cycling kit that hasn't been worn in over two years. Both new gear and an increased waist (how did that happen?) are the reasons. Prices include postage to the UK, paypal only, F&F if you're feeling trustworthy (I've dealt with a f...
