Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
I should add, that makes me 1/2 because I missed January because I'm a wuss. But it's baby steps.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
This Saturday just gone represents my first winter wild camp. A chilly start! Garmin hit -5 at one point, but having such a clear night with just moonlight and a few of a glowing Manchester more than made up for it. I adopted a hiding in plain site (!) approach. Pulling myself high enough up on the ...

Happy to have a check if it’s not too much of a pain! Thanks!substandard wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 11:30 am I might have a shorter high line dropper in one of my bikes that might be able to swap with?
I’d have to have a measure if it’s of interest

It’s a mixture of both. I think I’m going to need 125 or a super short post (I think one up seem to be the ones to aim for).substandard wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 8:13 pm Is it the travel that is too long? Due to frame insertion? What travel would you need for it to work?

FS: Crankbrothers Highline 3 170mm 31.6
Hello! As per the title. Brand new, never fitted - because I'm an idiot. I didn't check the maximum insertion of my frame, so now I've mullered the box, cut the included cable, returning it feels like taking the piss. £176 paid for it 3 weeks ago, does £140 to claim some of my pennies back seem fair...

Thoroughly enjoyed that - thanks!
Out of interest, what bars are those? Look like they could be just the ticket for my Unit.

Re: Multi-setups for multi-bikes?
Like others, I tend to have multiples of essentials that would be required regardless of if bikepacking or just heading out for a ride which are a mix of small seatpacks (Big enough to a tube, some levers, some patches, and a few CO2 canisters if im going light and fast on road bikes) or small handl...

Re: Future plans.....??
I'm starting to become increasingly despondent between the terrible weather (for anyting other than an hour or two thrash) and the prospect of adventure, in whatever tiny guise it might make itself known, not being open until "summer". I've booked the Easter week off and I had planned to d...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
It really hasn't been going well for me round these here parts. The only few spots I can think of to get out sneakily and sensible are up in the hills. Which is usually fine. I went out for a bimble on Saturday afternoon to one of the spots I had in mind as I knew it would be well sheltered to the n...

Re: Do you like giant cassettes?
Higher end Eagle has a good rep, everyone seems to bitch about SX. Wibbly crank arms and a not-fully-threaded pedal thread is my only experience with SX, swiftly being replaced and donated to father in laws "bimbling around" build. Made of cheese.* *I'm usually super cautious about giving...

Re: Blummin Bottom Brackets
Even better, you have an excuse to upgrade *all the gear*!!! (I dunno why a Shimano BB and crankset wouldn't play nicely with SRAM cassette/chain/shifters though?) Oh it would, but I've already purchased the Sram NX one because 1. I have a connection to a bike shop so got it at cost and 2. I though...

Re: Blummin Bottom Brackets
When I looked at the Park Tool website at BB tools I realised that those 2 are just the tip of the iceberg. Push-fit BB's get a lot of stick but all you need is a hammer, and everyone has one of those  But not everyone has the removal tool when you realise (after hammer based install, of cour...

Re: Blummin Bottom Brackets
So not only no standard for BB there is no standard for number of notches so new tools are required the industry is proper taking the piss out of its customers to keep making us buy stuff for no real reason I'm normally annoyingly peppy about this sort of thing and recognise times change etc, but I...

Blummin Bottom Brackets
Hello! After a bit of advice, I think I've cracked it but I'm second guessing myself. I've recently purchased a new bike that has come with a SRAM SX crankset and what I believe to be a powerspline BB. The frame itself (A Kona Unit X) is advertised as having a 73mm dub BB. I'm replacing the crankset...

Re: Poll - Open in new window Yes or No
Hah! Personally, I think most forums open in new window, because then you can easily go back to where you were. Especially being as this place unfortunately doesn't throw you back to last unread when you open a thread back up (Though please don't take this as a criticism, I am very grateful for this...

Re: Do you like giant cassettes?
I love them, they're a key part of what I look for when/if I'm looking at new purchases. The fact is, been a "cyclist" for maybe 6 years now, 4 on road, and the last 2 off. There are that many things to consider with triples and 8-9-10 speed setups when you're a newbie that from a simplici...

Re: WTD: Cable Dropper Lever
No longer sorted, still required.
The one I sourced locally requires the cable to be clamped at the post end. Unfortunately my post requires the reverse.
To that end, I'm back to square one. Does anyone have a dropper lever that clamps the cable at the lever?
Thanks!

Frustratingly I didn't make it out last weekend as my yearly migraine decided to kick in - Often coincides with yearly business planning meetings. Funny that. Never the less, this weekend is looking decidedly uninviting, but I'm gearing myself up. Strong winds and the threat of snow. I recce'd a lov...

WTD - Dub Crankset to fit 73mm BB
Hello! Sram SX is made of cheese. or at least the unit I have is. I've argued with the shop until I'm blue in the face, yes i'm 100% sure I know which pedals thread in which way etc etc, and my ace LBS threaded through again for me. But after having the pedal fall out at the top of a climb this morn...

Please and thankyou! Ideally something reasonably decent quality, but I'm open to ideas. They seem so overpriced for what they are new!
