Re: New to bike packing with a child
I took my 5yr old daughter bikepacking yesterday. We went with my mate and his 6 year old son. Although we didn't get the 4.3miles to our intended campsite, mainly due to underestimating how bad the track was, we all still had fun at our overnight camp spot. The main things I took away from it that ...

Re: Badger Divide start parking
My mate and I are heading up to Inverness at the start of October to do the Badger Divide. Luckily I stay in Glasgow so I'm just going to cycle in to Glasgow Queen Street. Car parking wise the city centre is out unless you find somewhere to pay for a few days. Don't park North or East of the City ce...

Re: Tool Rolls: whats your selection of choice?
A few weeks ago I spent an evening making a tool pouch out of an old jacket pocket zipper and some cordura type fabric. Oh how I chuckled when I realised that after all my design ingenuity and seamstress skills, that what I've made is... a pencil case 😁 Prior to my 'pencil case' I just used a ziploc...

Re: What GPS unit to get?
Having taken onboard the replies and reviewed all the different options. I've decided that the most suitable GPS unit for my needs/use is the Garmin Etrex 32. Hopefully will get delivery of it soon and get out on a few adventures. Thanks for all the replies, they've been a great help.

Re: What GPS unit to get?
All good replies. I've reviewed my needs and seeing as I'll be using the GPS unit for Scottish winter mountaineering - wet and wearing big gloves - a touch screen is out. Currently considering the etrex 32x as an option. Anyone used it or similar etrex unit and had any issue with screen size?

Re: What GPS unit to get?
Thanks for all the replies.
I had thought the not having a touch screen would be better. I'll have a look at the different models - etrex, oregon and dakota and see what my budget matches. I'll definitely look in to OS maps. I quite like the detail on the OS 1:25k.

What GPS unit to get?
Hi, just getting in to bikepacking and crossing over from a mountaineering background. I'm looking to see what the consensus is on what GPS unit and mapping to go for. I'm very familiar with map and compass and have an very old garmin etrex for getting a grid ref if completely lost in the hills, how...
