Re: Anyone Know Anything About An Old RockShox Suspension Seatpost?
In the end it was quite easy to take apart/tune. There is a preload screw in the base that you can adjust pretty easily. However, cranking it up all the way was still too saggy for me. Taking it apart I found one long elastomer and a spacer (like the fork tokens you get now). Reading the charts in t...

Re: Anyone Know Anything About An Old RockShox Suspension Seatpost?
Well, after some research I found some info online. People are selling the original owners manuals on eBay USA so I pinched their pics: https://i.postimg.cc/yxdFNVJM/Rockshox.webp https://i.postimg.cc/k45VQTn8/Rockshox2.webp The last one needs translated from Italian: https://i.postimg.cc/6QWTKM4S/R...

Anyone Know Anything About An Old RockShox Suspension Seatpost?
I have an old (2000s-era) Rockshox suspension seatpost on my drop bar bike. Was something I picked up locally for a tenner. Anyway, I'm fettling all things bike just now and was looking to see if it has adjustment at all as it just seems to drop to almost full travel when i sit on it. The guy gave m...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
I finally got the seized pad retaining pin out of my Ultegra hydraulic brake calipers as I needed to change the pads. Which is quite impressive as they were in it when new and must have 10,000 miles on them. This involved using an oscillating multitool to cut through the centre of the pin and one si...

Mechanical ones cabled to a down tube friction shifter are the most exciting style to ride.

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Sorting out my drop bar bike. Got the tyres holding tubeless air again, cleaned off all the spiderwebs, took the cranks in to be inspected for the Shimano recall (they pass, woohoo) and put the normal stem on in lieu of the suspension one I didn't gel with. Last job is to bleed the brakes which I'll...

Re: Meroca Suspension Stem - Vecnum Copy
I assume it’s 31.8 bar clamp ? Yes, that's correct. I had it on my drop bar bike, it just fits "normal" bars. There is info on it in this eBay listing: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266480985745?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=o1IPshWtSkS&sssrc=4429486&ssui...

Re: Maps for my phone - alternative to OS Maps?
Well, the demo thing doesn't work.
I just paid the £13 for the one-off Pro version (not the XE subscription model).
So far, so good. Have got it on my phone, changed maps (UK and worldwide), found where I am and imported GPXs.
All I needed :)

Vittoria Gato and Peyote 29er XC Tubeless Tyres
Two tyres for sale. Very light use, you can still see the wee noodly bits on them. Have been set up tubeless before so there is some residue inside. Have given them a clean as best I can and dried them out. Front (Vittoria Gato 29x2.2) Rear (Vittoria Peyote 29x2.1) £25 for the pair or £15 each - inc...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
It's a cheery Friday (well, Saturday) for me as I quit my job last week and don't really plan on getting another one any time soon. Was pretty high stress (senior management level) and in a difficult subject (investigating child abuse) and my cortisol levels weren't doing me any good. I decided to b...

Maps for my phone - alternative to OS Maps?
Am looking for suggestions for maps on my phone. I normally use OS Maps Premium but the subscription is out and they want £35 to renew. So thought I would see if there is something better. I'd like 1:25k maps, to be able to import GPXs and follow them, to be able to download maps offline, and to be ...

a Sea to Summit Cinder Down Quilt from their sale. I'd tried the Alpkit quilt before and found it too cold (seems it is generally poorly reviewed) so hopefully this is one works better for when I don't want to take my sleeping bag. I have a Tern 20" one that I got from FB Marketplace for £100 in very good condition. It's one of the more basic models - rim brakes and 8 bottom spec Shimano gears etc . I use to go in the boot of the car or to leave in the back of my campervan in case I want to cycle to a pub or toilet that's...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Today's job was to replace the Magura Mt master cylinder that I broke in a crash. Went Ok apart from a) not realising there was an olive already in the replacement master cylinder which I crushed and then slightly damaged the threads fro the hose entry while levering it out. Ended up having to retap...

Alternatively, I could go with a dropper with an underseat lever, not fussed about diameter as happy to shim it
