Re: 1 minute 50 seconds to waste?

Looks like fun, I'm guessing it's like Peel Island? Rowed with my boys from top end of Coniston & back. Alway thought it looked the perfect place to camp!

Oh no! That's some force there. Often considered tubeless but cost/mess always concerned me. Can the rim be mended?

Re: Is this bike any good for bikepacking?

Thanks Lazarus I was seeing what was available for £300 cash v £300 cash+£300 cycle to work and the latter seemed to offer more plus its all new parts & warranty etc where as I could end up spend more on wear and tear sooner on a second hand bike. Air sprung forks would be better but not within ...

Is this bike any good for bikepacking?

So I can't afford a Surly etc and have limited cash and don't think i'll get a great bike secondhand for £300 so another option is to look at topping up my cash with my cycle to work scheme . I looked at an extra £300 (I don't like to over commit!) and for that (well actually £585) I can get this Tr...

Re: Budget bikepacking bike required!

So Tam got in touch with me (thanks!) but I think the stooge is still out my price range (offered a good deal though!) and as I'd need to add a new seat post, headset spacers & 80mm stem. Lovely bike though!

My bike sold and I have £300 so still looking!

Re: Frame build query..

Thanks for the comments and offers. I did look at the On One Inbred but the website seemed to say it was a 26" hardtail?

Having put my bike up for sale again on Ebay again I'll see how that goes, but what a friendly forum offering help like this! Might just stick around :)

Re: Budget bikepacking bike required!

Tam from here is selling his Stooge. This is an ideal bikepacking machine, as I know that all of its previous owners (me included) have bikepacked on it. He’s open to offers, so don’t take the Pinkbike price as gospel: https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/2016302/ Oooh thats ideal although i'm not sure...

Re: Frame build query..

Ok thanks I think I will rule out swapping bits to a new frame and just concentrate on selling my old one for one that fits! Question answered!

Re: Frame build query..

I was thinking of getting the Sonder Frontier Frame & Fork on the cycle to work scheme https://www.alpkit.com/sonder/bikes/son ... e-and-fork as a replacement? I could get frame only but seems silly not to get the rigid fork too as a spare!

Re: Forget packrating.

I did a 10 mile stretch along the canal on the yestribe waterbike on a waterbike (bit different to that one) https://sayyesmore.com/waterbikecollective/ they are a great idea but it had issues (getting caught on reeds, deflating etc) it was hard work!

Frame build query..

So as per my other posts I am selling my scott bike as the frame is too small and I want a bike thats suitable for bikepacking. Given the spec on the scott being quite reasonable (Rock Shox 30 with lockout, shimano hydraulic disk brakes etc I wonder if id be better just looking for a new/second hand...

Scott Scale 965 (medium)

After a failed sale on eBay (due to buyer not me!) I'm selling my 2017 Scott Scale 965 bike. It's a great bike but just a bit too small for me! I should have bought large but bought a medium! Looking for £450 ono Well looked after and maintained rock shox 30 forks with remote lockout, SRAM NX1 1x11 ...

Thanks for the replies! Lots to think about! Lazarus that's really kind but I'm sure I can find £15 :???: will they fit on any bike and are they on reasonable condition?

Re: Budget bikepacking bike required!

So I had a gravel bike but spokes kept breaking so I sold it and bought a used mountain bike but bought the wrong size so I have sold that and I'm now bike less (and poorer having lost money on the two previous transactions!) I like the more substantial wheels on a trail bike but liked the variety o...

Budget bikepacking bike required!

I'm looking for a budget (£300 or less!) bike to do some basic bike packing. I'd love to spend more but that's all I've got. I did have a 2nd hand Scott mountain bike but it was too small (medium frame) I'm 6'2 so really need a large or xl. Ideally I'd like 29 wheels and drop bars but figure at my p...

Re: Big Shake Out

Hi Stuart I figured you might be there! I've booked on the tarpology & bikepacking activities so I'll probably see you at those, I just wondered if anyone else was heading down!

I was debating risking using just a tarp and bivvy but think I'll take my small tent instead!

Big Shake Out

So I'm new to the forum, so better say hi...
I've been through a couple of bikes but not found what I'm looking for, that's probably for another thread!

Anyhow, is anyone heading to the Alpkit Big Shake Out this month? I am and looking forward to it, just wondered if anyone interested in meeting up!
