Re: Moors One Hundred
I was going to be going from Hull, but now can't make it. Sorry, that's not much help!

Quick routes on Exmoor
Not bikepacking (sorry!) just general MTB routes, as close to the NW corner as possible. We're on hollybobs there next week and I'll be taking the bike to get a few rides in. Anyone know the area? Any recommendations for fun trails / routes I can do in 2-3 hours?

Re: Short travel full sus
My bikepacking bike is also my mountain bike (currently a Cotic Rocket). But then my trips tend to be mountain bike rides with a snooze in the middle. I do have a more gravelly bike that I could use for easier trips, but to be honest if I'm going to drive somewhere for a ride I want proper offroad! ...

Re: Coast to Coast - Tim Woodcock version
We did Tim Woodcock's version a few years ago. We did it over 4 days but took a few diversions towards the end to save time. It was ok but felt a bit broken up and lacked flow. At the moment it will probably be quite fast going as there is quite a bit of (usually) boggy moorland to cross. Expect to...

Just spent lunchtime sat in the sun reading. It's bloomin' toasty out there, bit worried I might be too hot tonight.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Just noticed you're Peaking as well 'Monkey. We should doff our caps as we pass en route. There's probably a special BBB doffing procedure (masonic style of thing) but I'm not privy to it as far as I'm aware. I probably failed the initiation ceremony or something because I can't take stuff like tha...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Well it's a lovely day out and I'm sat in the office pretending to do work... But on the plus side I get to finish at half three, at which point I'm going to load up the car, drive over to the Peak District, ride up a hill (as yet undecided, I'll make it up as I go along) and sleep under the stars. ...

Re: Whats in your first aid kit?
I've had to make an inner tube sling before, it works pretty well but it's a bit sproingy to be perfect. Does the job though. Mine is pretty basic - dressings and wipes pretty much. I usually carry an emergency blanket too; not sure of the use when I've got sleeping kit with me, but it's a lot easie...

Re: Sleeping Mats
Aye I had a look at those, but they're a bit more than I can really spend at the moment - if I'm cold camping I'm less likely to have the bike with me, and the Thermarest copy (I think it's a Multimat or something) will do the job. Tempted to take a punt on a cheapie off Amazon...

Sleeping Mats
What kind of mat do folk use for sleeping? I'm new to bikepacking, come from biking and backpacking and decided to smoosh the two together... I've got most of my kit down to a level / fit I'm happy with (I could do with a smaller sleeping bag, but that will come) but I currently have the choice of e...

Re: Penny farthing
I think there's a club that rides them not far from us (Welton near Hull IIRC), never had a go though. And a good friend has an outdoor theatre company that once did a performance of Don Quixote with a (smallish) penny farthing. That was ace.

I figure a bike's a bike, if you can strap stuff to it then it's all good!
Same to you, forecast ain't looking too bad as well.

That's what I'm hoping! I've ridden bits and bobs of it before, but doing it all in one week should be pretty special. Just hoping for decentish weather. Ha.

Re: Sorry to ask - what pedals?
DMR Vaults - I find V12s (and a lot of other pedals) just a little bit too narrow.
I only have one mountain bike though, which does everything from bikepacking to uplift days.

We're aiming to do this one at the end of August, bit further south than the Reivers one but mostly offroad (and lots of hills).

Re: Shortish route in the Dark Peak
Hahaha fair point.
Ok I'll be the guy with the inappropriate bike (Cotic Rocket) and the beard. I'll prooobably mostly be around the Hope / Ladybower area I think, and I'll be off home by the middle of Saturday.

Shortish route in the Dark Peak
I've got time to get out on Friday after work for an overnighter - I'll be driving to the Peak (probably either Hope or Bamford kinda way) and arriving prooooobably six half sixish, riding somewhere for a camp then riding back the next morning. I've ridden loads round there and bivvy'd a few times o...
