Re: 2018 Borders 350/Borders 220 group start, register now.

Sorry Ray I will have to drop out of this. It would mean taking the second week off from my new job as holiday. Much as my boss is also a cycling nut and would surely understand, I need to show some sort of commitment to the job as I only have a trial initially May the weather be forever in your fav...

Re: Simple drop bar conversion

A simple solution would be bar end shifters combined with brake levers such as the TRP Hylex

Re: Todays ride

Was getting the train back from a successful job interview in Stroud on Wednesday afternoon and just hit the rush hour commute from Birmingham. Lots of sweaty, sweary, stressed people piled into not nearly enough space so when I got to Shrewsbury to transfer for another train I decided to hop off fo...

Re: WRT the Star and the weather thread

Will be at the star using my favourite mode of transport. Weather will be grey sky with a bit of drizzle* as it always is round here.

Classification of drizzle is subjective

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

4/4 over the weekend Woke up Saturday morning at 5am like a kid at Christmas. Bike was packed up, *summer* had started, Jack had set off driving down from York. We were going on an adventure! Set off at half eight hoping to make it to Nant yr Arian for 3pm to see the red kite feeding. We had a vague...

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

Bit late sharing but here are my write ups of Jan, Feb, and March. All eventful in their own ways. I set off cycling from York hoping to get home in two days on my Orange Clockwork with rear panniers. It would be about 200 miles the side route I would be trying to go. I was very hungover so only set...

Re: Llanidloes Adventure Fim Night

So after making my grand plans they emailed me to day it was cancelled. Gutted. All packed up I decided to do the route anyway and probably stay in the Nant Rys bothy. The heavy snow sign on the mountain road is not to be taken lightly. It was properly raw up there. When the terrain was rideable the...

Re: Llanidloes Adventure Fim Night

In silly adventurous spirit I shall attempt to cycle there tomorrow. Snow and steady wins the race. I live just north of Machynlleth about 50km away. Obviously shall involve a bivi at the other end.

Re: WRT - Scary? Unappealing?

Hey! Millennial yuppie using a hand me down bike here. Nobody has taught me how to use a map. I am rubbish at it. I embrace this and don’t see everyone’s obsession with planning a perfect route. On microadventures I will pick whichever way the wind is going, ehhh that bridal way looks nice and nobly...
