Re: Shine Brighton you Crazy Diamond
Wow thanks for all the enthusiasm. Glad it could be enjoyed once the wheels stopped spinning. Appreciate the doff Reg. The riding time through the night this time of year only needs to be 6 hours, then fit Friday and Saturday sleeps into Saturday. Definitely possible. Late December would be a whole ...

Shine Brighton you Crazy Diamond
For a while now I have dreamed of riding off into the sunset and right through into sunrise. The usual excuses kept raising their heads and other bike trips happened instead. This all changed two weeks ago in the blasting sun when I mentioned I wished I was eating an ice-cream at the beach. Obviousl...

Re: What does your perfect event look like?
If I had a large group of bikepacking pals all in one place for a theoretical event I’d like to hold the bikepacking equivalent of the fixie ally cats. Events like the hurdles over gates, some tarp pitching, dangley mug jousting where you have to fill competitors mug with water/sheep muk, skid conte...

Re: a dislike of bikepacking luggage. anyone else?
I used two small ortlieb front loader panniers on a low rider when I did the TNR. I wouldn’t use them on anything too technical, I draw the line at two wheels almost always being on the ground, but with the weight low and over the front wheel I felt solid reliable grip when cornering and could lean ...

In order of use: Muddy fox streetfinder much loved on my paper round now converted to 700c fixie. Makes flat riding far less boring and will happily lock up anywhere. Orange Clockwork 1992. Was my A to B bike at uni until I jumped into a pothole. Replaced the fork eventually and got skinny single sp...

I have a wheel with qr and frame with 142 15mm. Do you still need your end caps or want to do a switcheroo?
Fork and wheel are qr so can only help with one end.

Re: TINAT rides 15/16 june
I'm looking at doing the 200 multi as my first audax It looks to be one of the few times a year that I think, yes a car would be very handy right now. Quite like the look of a ride from Church Stretton the evening/night before then less of a plan for the other end but provisionally Worcester, maybe ...

I'm happy to be old enough to remember a time when there was no 'grid'. I actually have a degree of sympathy, maybe even pity for those who've only ever known modern communication. Being very much in this demographic it took a completely unplanned ride through the night with a dead phone and...

What size chest area you? I'm a 38/40 and have a Scott gilet I need to move on. Can't remember what size it is but it's a proper roadie job so think it might be a large, but it fits me well. Have too many gilets, would gladly move it on. If its the right size I can send pics if you send me your ema...

WTD: windproof gilet medium SORTED TA
Looking for a very packable gilet that stops me from getting cold from the wind and short summer shower so windstopper or decent in house alternative fabric. Really trying to reduce my footprint and, as this is on the want list rather than the need list, I cannot justify buying new. In similar vain ...

I have a steel 456 frame but unsure of the size. I’m 5”10 so think it may be a large. Welcome to it for postage and continuing the legacy of my first “proper bike” I’m in the Cotswolds or Birmingham for collection

Re: Silly Ideas...
I’m a big fan of silly ideas. Some of my fondest memories on a bike have been silly ideas. So silly that the only outcome you can predict is failure. You take the small victories and the unexpected in your stride. I definitely think you have to be in just the right mood for silly ideas to be success...

As above, cassette surplus to requirement as I have moved to 11spd on my cx bike. After £45 posted. Cheapest I could find online was £87.50. Was used on the spare road wheels for my cx bike, so plenty of life left in it. Cheers Mark Hi If that other bloke didn’t have it, would I be able to get this...

My Wrt. Just riding my bike My journey started with classic mishap blagging, due to me not being able to read months, the critical chainring for my bike was due end of May so I could not ride my bike to the station. No bother, I loaded it up, took the wheels off, used two heavy duty Velcro straps fr...

Re: Two days with no resupply?
A tub of cheapest peanut butter in the plastic jar has a good balance of fat for calorie density and protein for muscle recovery. It works for less bland porridge, snacking on scoops, on wraps/pitta for lunches. Also a malt loaf squished up to about a quarter of its packet size is a proper top of a ...

I have one and have always enjoyed splashing in puddles so actively look to go out if the weather is looking feisty and it is my go to for those expected storms. It does get hot but I just zip the sides right up and fold it over itself like a crop top which gets too much when going uphill outside of...
