Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
No giant bonfire, but a nice Beltane bivvy. It started with helping out another cyclist with a jammed chain, then a sunny(!) ride out, a good natter (and dram) with @edaleskyline, and a mild and dry night. The morning dawned far too early, mainly due to my bovine neighbours, who thought 4.30am was a...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Best wishes for the future V. Cheery stuff here: It's 9 years since Bear Cub no.1 first rode a pedal bike, and I've got my first guiding gig of the season this afternoon. Hoping that my battered and failing body* makes it through! I do have an ample supply of jelly beans, so should be fine. *Tennis ...

Badger Divide is good. Down the Corrieyairack Pass heading N>S is a bit rocky, but I don't remember there being much HAB. Headwinds were what knackered me the most.

Re: weight, I have a Cotic SolarisMAX and a Jeht and swap my forks/wheels/running gear between the two. The Jeht weighs more, but on average I end up riding (including climbing) faster on it. <shrug>
Shame the frame layout of the Jeht doesn't really lend itself to frame bags.

Just outside Basingstoke apparently, though it seems the station has been demolished.

Google Maps shows "Adventure forest" just to the SE though, which sounds suitable for a Regspedition.

I beleave that the more we define what ultra or bikepacking is, what the events or races are, or should be, the more we destroy it.

a Sea to Summit Cinder Down Quilt from their sale. I'd tried the Alpkit quilt before and found it too cold (seems it is generally poorly reviewed) so hopefully this is one works better for when I don't want to take my sleeping bag. The bags and info leaflets it comes with are quite nice :) @yourgui...

Whilst I'm sure Christianity's 10 commandments could probably be condensed into Rule 1 (I'm pleading ignorance on other religions), the actual answer is shorter than the one suggested by Lazarus!

A very happy Eid al Fitr, particularly to Shaf, but also to everyone else who celebrates.

Yeah, 3-4 months of being covered in road salt will do that. Not sure directing your ire at whatever lube you used is the most productive use of your energy.

First run of the year in shorts. Up the valley and back through the local woods, past a very unfussed urban fox, blossom on the trees, birds tweeting all around, and squirrels scampering across the path. Lovely.
