Re: Jenn Ride - Bearboners...

My first bike packing/multi-day too - what a great experience! Quite happy with my bike and kit, thanks to several years of stalking/researching/nicking ideas from here and elsewhere - the variable conditions gave good chance to put theory into practice. As I went I filled a small notebook with impr...

Re: Jenn Ride - Bearboners...

Planning to get up there in my camper around 1830. Which is 'the pub' mentioned? Might go over to the brewery for some dinner/take out...

Also - weather forecast. Currently looking like a lot of rain - hope it changes...

Re: Bar end shifters?

It all depends on the flare and the drop of the bar and the height of the stem. I have made the mistake in the past of buying a 'normal' width bar (in road bar terms) with a lot of flare, which left the bar ends set too wide/vulnerable to being knocked when riding with others/wing mirror etc. The ef...

Re: Bike Packing Starter Kit ideas!

I'm just preparing for my first proper event (Jenn) so will post up my finalised beginners list over the weekend - would be good to get observations/critique etc. One thing I am learning though, is that it is important to know how you personally interpret what bike packing is for you and not copy ot...

First timer and will be stuck in my default 'get-me-home' mode from the start. Will latch on to the leisurelys at the watering holes.... Note to self - bring folding!

XT 1 x 11 crank

Just received a new XT 8000 crank ordered as a 1 x 11 and was surprised to see it has mountings for a 2 x set up. Anyone know if there is a specific 1 x XT crank available (not just a 2 x they send out regardless)?

Re: Adventure cycle festival

Sounds perfect for a newbie such as I! As does an evening ride out to the Hawkeshead Brewery for dinner, then a bit of wild camping on Saturday night...
