Parking near Hathersage

I'm off to the Peaks tomorrow, starting in Hathersage, for a few days of biking and bivvying with a mate and was wondering if there any decent (ie safeish) places to park nearby?

Anyone else name their bikes?

I know many may think this a little eccentric/odd, but I've always given my bikes names, and was wondering if anyone else does? Sometimes it reflects how they ride/respond, sometimes it's down to how they look. For example, my old racer was called Doris, I had a felt single speed that my son called ...

Re: Between now and January?

I'm off to the peaks next week for a couple of nights of pootling and bivvying. I've been really enjoying trying to find some suitable overnighter spots near me, in the barren fens, think I've found a few potential spots that I want to try during September. Mostly though, I'll be getting more miles ...

Makes complete sense. I'd love to get a stooge at some point. Good luck with the sale, if you don't sell and want to sell the old wheels, let me know. Have a fab day. :-bd

Someone's getting a bargain, especially with those upgrades. Love mine, out of curiosity, why are you letting yours go?

At that price, it's a steal. Problem for me is, the divorce it would cause is more expensive. Grr, looking on with envy.

Re: Acepac - get it while I've got it.

I’ve got the rear harness and the front harness, rock solid kit. Looks like I’ll need to source elsewhere for an 8l dry bag for the rear harness. For those interested, don’t hesitate, it’s great kit.

Re: Universal front pouch

Stu, will you be getting any of the saddle pack harness dry bags? If so, please let me know, if possible. They're great bits of kit, I got a handlebar and seat pack harness from you. If not, might need to get my mum to get me some of their stuff, she's Czech and frequently goes back to the motherland.

Headed out later than planned on Saturday afternoon, got back mid Sunday afternoon. For a change I decided to record this ride via the medium of YouTube Shorts, so if you have trouble sleeping, or are just a sucker for punishment, you can watch them all here →https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlS0...

Eat my shorts

Hi all, I'm after recommendations for a new pair of shorts. As a preface, I don't wear bibs or padded shorts, feels like I'm wearing a nappy. My endura hummvee 2 shorts, which have lasted nearly 10 years, are starting to look a little worse for wear, though have served me well. Very hard wearing and...

Thanks Boab and Blackhound, a cracking read. Part of the route is on my doorstep so I'll have to check it out. If it's not too much bother I might ask a bit about the route in the future. Cheers.

Re: F U R T H E R East (ish)

It was then back onto some tarmac for a bit after we'd crossed the A17, which was nice, as we could've just continued along the dyke. We did have to rejoin it eventually though, and I was pleasantly surprised to see some double track, but it only lasted about hundred metres, before it was back to t...

A Polaris enduro jacket. They emailed me to let me know they didn't have any vapours left. Seems pretty good, looking forward to testing it out on a little spin tomorrow. Cheers for the heads up.

Re: Todays ride

I went for my first ride in months, due to ill health, I'd forgotten how brutal the Fens winds can be. A long stretch of bridleway had been closed off so found myself cycling without really having any fixed destination in mind and ended up in parts I've never been, always fun. Knackered but happy af...

Do you think this would suit chillier autumnal rides
It has a fleece lining so is pretty warm. I bought mine for the colder months.
Cheers. Judging by some replies about sizing I might need to opt for the small, I'm 36 inch chest and 30 inch waist. Or do you you think I should opt for medium?
