Re: New Years Eve

In 2015 I took advantage of my wife being at work and the children being far away to spend NYE on my favorite pass :)

Re: Torino nice who's doing it this yr

Death Road is when you go down from Sampeyre pass through the village of Elva : http://cathie.charbonnier.free.fr/piwigo/picture.php?/3325/category/71 Little Peru is when you go up the other side of Val Maira, directly through Canosio and colle del Preit, or the long way through Acceglio and a pedes...

Great. I sometimes see Larry Warbasse training around Nice, Conor Dunne now that I know his height I may no miss him in the future :)

BTW Warbasse needs some lessons on how to tighten a seat bag https://twitter.com/i/status/1036560961015087104

Re: Torino nice who's doing it this yr

Just for info... when's everyone planning on getting out there? Wondering if we might get a short ride in on the Saturday or the Sunday? I will not be in Turin this year but the last two years I spent the afternoon before the start climbing the hills over the Po, east of Turin. The first time I cli...

Re: 1 litre bottle. SIS v Zefal

I left a Zefal (black) somewhere a little before Sampeyre pass last year during Torino Nice Rally. If you go there maybe you'll find it back

Re: Torino nice who's doing it this yr

Looking forward to my first Torino - Nice Rally! I was thinking of arriving (very) early and doing a loop taking in the gravel roads around Thuile/Mont Cenis and doing colle sommelier and Monte Jafferau before getting the train back from bardonnecchia. I was wondering if anyone knows how eas...

Re: The 2nd Torino-Nice Rally

As an alternate route after Col de Tende, I would recommand the western side of the Roya Valley, through Baisse de Peirafica and Casterino. It brings you much quicker to Saint Dalmas than the Via del Sale option, and still in a beautiful high mountain scenery, with stunning views over the 46 hairpin...

Sorry :) I had a look at the time tables, and I think we left at 9 am, rather than 11, to be in Torino at about 3 pm

Re: The 1st Torino-Nice Rally, anyone?

In France all regional trains carry bikes without extra charge. Long distance trains and TGV charge 10 € for a non-dismounted bike, when space is available. Dismounted bikes inside a bag are like normal luggage, so no extra charge. Last year we left at 11 am or so from Nice and were in Torino by the...

I use every day http://www.openrunner.com/ and I'm very satisfied with the distance and elevation results it gives.

Once I used Strava and I concluded immediatly it was not done for this,

Re: The 1st Torino-Nice Rally, anyone?

Hello, I'm back in Nice. A bit stupidely, I aimed to finish friday without any particular reason, so I climbed Agnel at night, woke up at 5, finished Colla Goderie yesterday night, woke up at 4h30 this morning, without much eating. As a result, I felt completely exhausted this morning when climbing ...

Re: The 1st Torino-Nice Rally, anyone?

Hello, I live in Nice too, in case of need don't hesitate to ask me. For the train to Torino, it's not an issue. With the bike mounted, you must take regional trains, but there are many and it's about 4 and 5 hours long. The Nice - Vintimille trains all take the bike without problems. Be aware that ...
